Today we celebrate #WorldWaterDay, the theme of which this year is “Water for Peace.” Water is more than an essential commodity for life – it’s a critical factor for health, social cohesion, and food security – and, in turn, peace and stability. In short, water access, food security, and peace are all intricately linked! Through our portfolio of safe water enterprises and the Water Access Acceleration Fund launched in 2023, we contribute to unlocking access to water for over 12.7 million people. We do this by supporting innovative businesses locally that foster broad and sustainable social change in the long-term. Let’s act collectively to build a future where water is a bridge to peace #wateraccess #Waterforpeace #health

🌍 Happy World Water Day 💦💧 Is an annual event celebrated on March 22nd designated by the United Nations to raise awareness about water-related issues and promote sustainable water management practices. Given Somaliland's susceptibility to droughts and water scarcity, this day holds particular importance in advocating for access to clean and safe water for all residents in Somaliland through various activities such as educational workshops, community clean-up events, and policy dialogues. 💧 Globally, women and girls are often responsible for collecting water for their households, spending an estimated 200 million hours every day collecting water for their families(UNICEF). In rural Africa, the average woman walks 6 kilometers every day to haul 40 pounds of water. Today is a reminder of the crucial role water plays in the well-being and prosperity of individuals and communities, while also highlighting the need for collective efforts to protect and conserve this precious resource for future generations. #Worldwaterday #sustainability #sdg6 #cleanwater #globalgoals2030

Today is #WorldWaterDay. It’s a reminder that while water is a fundamental part of our lives, 1 in 3 people around the globe lack access to safe drinking water. This isn’t just a statistic; it’s a call to action. This year's theme #WaterForPeace highlights that water can create #peace or spark #conflict. Key Facts: When water is scarce or polluted, or when people have unequal, or no access, tensions can rise between communities and countries. More than 3 billion people worldwide depend on water that crosses national borders. Yet, only 24 countries have cooperation agreements for all their shared water. As climate change impacts increase, and populations grow, there is an urgent need, within and between countries, to unite around protecting and conserving our most precious resource. Public health and prosperity, food and energy systems, economic productivity and environmental integrity all rely on a well-functioning and equitably managed water cycle. 2.2 billion still live without safely managed drinking water, including 115 million people who drink surface water. Water is essential for health, agriculture, and industry. Yet, millions are left behind. The good news? We can change this. It’s about more than just awareness; it’s about action. This #WorldWaterDay, let’s commit to practical steps to make a difference. Whether it’s reducing waste, supporting clean water initiatives, or advocating for policies that ensure water access for all, every effort counts. Join the movement towards universal access to safe and clean water. It’s not just about charity; it’s about justice. Let’s make water availability a reality for everyone. #WorldWaterDay #TakeAction #WaterForAll #WaterForPeace #UnitedNations

Water 💦💦 scarcity is a critical human challenge, with 2.4 billion people living in stressed countries. Although freshwater is scarce and unevenly distributed, we must find ways to produce more with less, protect our resources, and ensure equitable access. 👪 Our lives and livelihoods depend on it. #worldfoodday #leavenoonebehind #waterscarcity #wateraction #fao #unitednations #worldfoodday2023

Today, as we commemorate #WorldWaterDay, let's contemplate the sobering reality that over two billion individuals worldwide lack access to clean, safe drinking water. The water crisis experienced by Cape Town in 2018 serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need for concerted global efforts to conserve and effectively manage our invaluable water resources. This year's theme is 'Water for Peace', which focuses on the critical role water plays in the stability and prosperity of the world. With dam levels currently resting at 70.4% in Cape Town, it falls upon each of us to acknowledge our responsibility and pledge to adopt more water-efficient practices in our daily routines. By collectively embracing this responsibility, we can contribute to a brighter future where access to clean, safe drinking water is not a privilege but a fundamental human right. Let us all play our part in realising this vision. 🔴Where it counts #greeffchristies #greeffproperties #worldwaterday #worldwaterday2024
