It could've saved me so many headaches and costly errors. 🍟 How we got into starting a fry brand (it’s a wild story) It started with the DARKEST MOMENT of our 10 years of being in the food industry: We had finally signed a lease. 6 years of hustling on food trucks and we’d finally done it. We were opening a restaurant. Not only that, it was right next to Nats Ballpark after they won the World Series. They were about to have a blockbuster season with a packed stadium of hungry fans. The year is 2019. We’re supposed to open in Spring 2020. Yeah. That 2020. We were building our first restaurant when the world shut down. We had a 10 year lease and didn’t know when we’d get open. Or if we’d even get open. 6 years of grinding it out and this is what we had. But that rough patch led us to do anything we could to survive. It led us to experimenting with new things. It led us to a category that was ripe for disruption. It’s June 2024. We survived. And now we’re about to launch @jesseandbens into ~50 Whole Foods Market stores all over the Mid-Atlantic (DC, MD, VA, PA). If you’re in your rough patch, keep going. We recently spoke with Leo, the owner of Pariente Mix food truck in Aurora Illinois, about his journey as a food truck entrepreneur downtown. Leo’s story is inspiring and encouraging. He and his dad spontaneously decided to start a food truck business over three years ago - and now, business is booming. His advice for new entrepreneurs? Don’t quit too early. Entrepreneurship is hard work and you never know when it’s going to pay off. Keep your head down and patiently work toward your goals.  Invest in marketing. Customers won’t buy your product if they don’t know it exists. Get on social media. A powerful online presence allows the consumer to visualize themselves enjoying your product - it tempts them to make the purchase. Don’t be afraid to try new things and get creative! We started our business 2 years ago with nothing but a dream, a plan to achieve that dream (all layed out in steps) and an unusual sense of optimism! We started with no BIG Loan, NO Investors, and were even labeled "neurotic" by family members and former employees, after all we left our Full-Time Restaurant General Management positions to invest all money we had, what little we had, into PURSUING OUR PASSION! We have grown to since win an International Flavor Award, be featured in numerous small shops and eateries including but not limited to @themixingbowl_315 , @sgtpeppersetc , @epicusesyr , and even @off_the_muck_market . Last month a kind woman named Laura reached out to us to inquire about wholesale pricing as she is opening a NEW Grocery Store in Groton, NY and will have fresh prepared food to boot! Her neighbor had met us at an event we worked in which they purchased our Hot sauce and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Upon further communication with Laura we learned that not only will she be carrying our Hot sauces at her grocery store but will be preparing meals with said sauces! Her grocery store is named, The Good Neighbor Grocery! Something tells me those restaurant Gallon Jugs we have been considering coming out with may be offered sooner rather than later!
