====Diversity & Inclusion in Polarised Northern Ireland ===== Professionals often speak of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. But what about its prevalence in broader society, especially in places with complex histories like ours? With the reopening of Stormont, it's time to reflect on this. I am a part of the diverse mosaic that makes up our community, and yet, at almost 50 and as a student, I am confronted with barriers that question the validity of my experience and my ability to contribute. My pursuit of education at this juncture is more than just academic; it's a journey to decipher how these societal barriers can be transformed into opportunities for growth and innovation. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam once said: "Where there is righteousness in the heart, there is beauty in the character. Where there is beauty in the character, there is harmony in the home. When there is harmony in the home, there is order in the nation. When there is order in the nation, there is peace in the world." In this wisdom, there lies a call to action for each of us to cultivate integrity and character. For in doing so, we contribute to the harmony and order of our nation. Let us all be champions of this order, starting with the inclusion of all forms of diversity.

In recent months Diversity Partners has delivered diversity and inclusion strategies for major sporting organisations, financial services firms, community-based Trusts, national rail associations, and local councils across Australia. We love the diversity of this work! When organisations invest in developing a diversity and inclusion strategy with leadership buy-in, measures and accountabilities, the opportunity to drive and sustain progress is so much greater than having a few ad-hoc activities or employee resource groups. And when it links with new positive duty requirements and psychological health laws in Australia, the integrated roadmap becomes even more compelling. Here's some more thoughts on why a strategy matters, and our collaborative approach for developing data-driven diversity and inclusion strategies with the purpose of helping organisations better reflect their customers and community and achieve the performance benefits from diversity - of demographic background and thinking approaches. "It remains lawful for employers to implement diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility programs that seek to ensure workers of all backgrounds are afforded equal opportunity in the workplace." U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Chair Charlotte A. Burrows Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Transformation (DIET) is a continuous improvement process to facilitate healthy workplaces for all employees. It requires courage in the face of external pressure: According to the Wall Street Journal, companies are asking their lawyers if and how much they need to change their DE&I initiatives in light of 2023's Supreme Court higher education affirmative action decision.
