When it comes to career and business support for military spouses and partners, there are lots of charities and organisations out there doing just that. But which one should you choose? Which one will meet your needs the best? Here at the MCN we do all the hard work for you in our 'Spotlight on' series. We ask the questions, websites don't provide answers to. We unpick the things that don't quite make sense. We gather all the information you'll need to make an informed decision. Why not join our Online Community and see for yourself? https://lnkd.in/eUpM5H2Y Membership of the MCN is free and open to the partners and spouses of anyone who is currently serving either as a regular or reservist, or has served in the past, including bereaved partners. #MCN #Militaryspouse #Militarypartner #Businesssupport #Careersupport #Community #Network

As you know #TeamRock are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge! From the 13th - 15th September, 20 employees from #TeamRock will participating in this enduring task raising money for two amazing charities. We'd like to spotlight the first charity: 💙 Scotty's Little Soldiers - https://buff.ly/3ss1yXP - Help ensure long term support for bereaved military children. Scotty's offers wraparound care and support to bereaved military children and young people through our three programmes: 💙 SMILES: This programme is about fun and engagement and includes activities, gifts and group events which have the purpose of making our members smile again and remind them they aren't alone but are part of a supportive community. 💙 SUPPORT: This programme looks after the emotional health and wellbeing of the bereaved military children and young people we support. It includes information and guidance on childhood bereavement for parents and carers, and 1:1 professional bereavement support for children and young people. 💙 STRIDES: This programme focuses on the education and development needs of bereaved Forces children and young people. This includes promoting a positive attitude to learning and providing opportunities to develop life skills. It also includes a range of small educational grants. New figures show that approximately 2,100 children EVERY year experience the death of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces – many more than previously known. Help Scotty's Little Soldiers meet the need and ensure every bereaved military child can get access to the best emotional support, outstanding development opportunities and the chance to smile again. 🎗️ We'll be sharing our journey over the coming weeks and will be grateful for any support you can provide us! 🎗️ Support #TeamRock here by sponsoring us and raising money for Silence of Suicide and Scotty's Little Soldiers - https://buff.ly/3L5nMYo #electricalconnections #supplychain #supplychainplanning #substations #rockpowerconnections #ICP #BNO #DNO #IDNO #WorcestershireBusiness #decarbonisation #AMitieCompany #MitiePlanZero #evinfrastructure #evchaarging #evcharginginfrastructure #ev #evcharginghubs

One in four adults experience mental illness, and many more of us know and care for people who do. Talking openly about we feel can help. That’s why at Tesco we have decided to do our bit in helping to raise awareness, and hopefully collect some donations along the way! On the 30th May 2024, four Tesco Colleagues will start the Medicine Ball challenge which involves cuffing a 3kg Medicine Ball to their wrist for a number of days, over the following 4 weeks it will change hands with over 20 Colleagues taking part. 3kg may not sound that heavy but being tied to a medicine ball is no easy task. The ball becomes a physical, visual and tangible representation of the invisible burden of mental health that so many of us can experience. The Challenge is being carried out in collaboration with the Tesco Armed Forces Network in the lead up to Armed Forces week 24th -29th June 2024. Any donations raised during the challenge will be split evenly between the following charities: Army Benevolent Fund Combat Stress If you would like to show your support and make a donation, please use the link below to access our Just Giving Team page. https://lnkd.in/eYuxQgxY All support will be gratefully received 🤗 #tesco #Armedforcesnetwork #Medicineballchallenge #mentalhealthawareness #itsgoodtotalk

***TW: mention of suicide*** September is Suicide Prevention Month. Have you ever been to a military memorial service? The roll call makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I cry during Taps. The folding of the flag brings me to my knees. On March 18, 2012 I lost one of my closest friends to suicide. He wasn’t the last. That summer I tried to kill myself too. I got caught before I could act. I asked to be 5150’d, that’s the code for someone to be involuntary detained for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation when they are found to be a danger to themselves or others. Those 3 days turned into 2 weeks. I was able to get the help that so many others could not. 22 servicemembers a day take their lives. The fact this is even a statistic physically hurts. To bring awareness to the mental health struggles that the men and women who serve our country go through during and after their service, I will be participating in a challenge to raise money and awareness for Mission 22, a program dedicated to providing those who have served with the resources needed AT NO COST so that they don’t become a part of this number. My goal is to bike/walk at least 22 miles a week in honor of my brothers and sisters who are no longer here with us. What do I need from you? Just support. Understanding. Empathy. Reach out to someone you haven’t heard from in a while. Tell your people you love them. Take the pictures. Go to the dinners. Live. And if you or someone you know needs help, don’t be afraid to ask for it. There is strength in asking for help. If you would like to donate to Mission 22 to support their mission, all I ask is that you do it in honor of: SPC. George Grundy 💚 here’s a link:

💪🔥 A MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who stood tall with us during our MOvember campaign. You've shown that you're not just part of the crowd, but warriors in the fight against male suicide and mental health stigma. Because of YOU, we've raised enough funds to provide FIVE NCSPT Suicide Intervention Training Courses with our unique Tough Talker bolt-on course. This means we can reach more men in male-dominated spaces, empowering them, giving them a voice, and showing them it's #ToughToTalk but even tougher to stay silent. A special, roaring shout-out to our charity partner, Cooper Parry! 🙌 Their team, led by the unstoppable CP Legends - Lydia, Eryn, Latoyah and April - have been absolute powerhouses, raising HALF the funds single-handedly. Partnerships like this aren't just about raising money. They're about saving lives. Cooper Parry, you've embraced our mission to destroy the stigma and reduce male suicide. You've shown what it means to be an ally, a fighter, a lifesaver. Together, we are making a difference. Together, we are breaking the silence. Because it's #ToughToTalk, but together we're making it possible. 🔥💪 Onward, Warriors! Let's keep the momentum going. The fight isn't over, but we know we're not fighting alone with you in our corner. 👊🚀 #ToughToTalk #FightTheStigma #MensMentalHealth #NoMoreSilence #SpeakUpStandStrong #LifeSavers #MentalWarriors #BreakTheStigma #ManUpSpeakUp #StrongerTogether
