Researching my ballot for the upcoming election, I had an interesting thought. We’re told to quantify everything on our resumes. "Add the numbers! Recruiters and hiring managers want to see measurable results!" But when was the last time you saw quantifiable achievements on a candidate's website? Politicians’ sites--essentially their resumes for the job--rarely offer numbers. It’s always, “Worked on legislation” or “Supported local initiatives.” Vagueries. Why not “Secured $X million in funding for the community” or “Increased public access to services by X%?” (You see this *sometimes*, but not very often.) Candidates for office are applying for very important jobs. They should be held to a higher standard.
