The Malaysia Cup football final last night was quite an eye sore. The unfitting field, still in bad shape after a concert held not too long ago, made the players play safe to avoid injuries, affecting the game's flow. I felled asleep few times. As spectators, we deserve better than this. It's time to invest and adopt new approaches and technology in repair and maintenance to vastly improve our repair and maintenance culture. We cannot be just the champion in building tallest skyscrapers or latest facilities, but also leader in repair & maintenance existing facilities. #repairandmaintenance #investment #technology #cultureimprovement #malaysia #malaysiacup

From my position of non profit, it takes understanding and contextualizing negotiations with a large corporate organization in the Philippines called Robinson’s Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. Today, I was able to get commitments on: 1- Ability to use the mall inner indoor courts for #pickleball demo, clinics and light introduction to the game 2- Mall management will partner with two large paint manufacturers to paint a driveway for two courts. This will be available for open play, drop in, and local small tournaments. 3- Leverage the retailers breadth and depth of marketing dollars (or pesos) and expertise My vision for these events were mainly to make the sport viral to the city and the region, increasing adoption. This makes the sport affordable and available to all, beyond the middle class in my hometown of Butuan City. Long term, I have a dream of Filipinos from my howetown competing in professional leagues such as APP and MLP. What I’ve learned today: Re frame my conversations to the Filipino culture, and not impose the American style of GO GO, GO (quick implementation), come from humility and convey the request from a position of partnership.

It’s a shame that Kelantan FC have withdrawn from the A1 semi pro league. Whatever the factors are, it does ask a question around Malaysian football. Why are there restrictions on who can play, coach or enter teams? Some leagues restrict the use of foreigners in any way. Let me be clear, I’m not advocating for amateur or semi pro teams to bring foreigners from overseas. I am talking about those currently in the country who have the right to work and live in Malaysia legally. If clubs are struggling to find players, pay league or registration fees why not utilise the available players, many of whom have the money to pay registration fees & have connections to corporations who may be willing to sponsor clubs? I genuinely don’t know how a club cannot find players. So many people are looking for a platform to showcase their talents. This could be a catalyst to help progress Malaysian football to another level. Use semi-pro & amateur levels to develop & sell to higher levels. FIFA’s Training Compensation calculations are pretty clear & although there are issues with their Clearing House, the system can be used for domestic transfers (DTMS) when a player moves to a professional club. Malaysian football has seen clubs fold, banned from transfers, players & staff go unpaid for months BUT can still afford to bring in overseas players & pay them more than they would get in their home country for a similar level of competition. Why? Why not double down on your on landscape? Open leagues to all those legally in the country, focus on internal development & spend money where it will actually make a difference. Foster an ecosystem that is truly about bottom up & top down development (it can be done with the resources in Malaysia) & kick those out of the game that accept violence to players, coaches, match fixing or misappropriation of funds. Malaysian football has the ability to be great. #KelantanFC #BolaSepak #Football #ClubDevelopment #FifaTMS

Hong Kong Basketball League Salaries 🇭🇰 🏀 Hong Kong’s HKBA A1 is one of the best mid-tier overseas basketball markets in Asia. With its top-end pro clubs Tycoon, Eastern and SCAA paying top-dollar. However, other teams will also be able to pay decent wages. Not only this but HK also offers: ▪️Three divisions ▪️A2 teams paying $2K - $5K/month ▪️Promotion and relegation tier system ▪️World-class living ▪️Continental Cups ▪️High standard of living ▪️Sponsorship opportunities ▪️Exposure to Asian market Accessibility is the main issue here. First, it was the A1’s 1-year prearrival rule. Now it is A2 imports struggling to move up to A1. Regardless, HK is a basketball market that is worth the hassle. It is one of Asia’s most underrated markets today and tons of potential (money)! #overseasbasketball #professionalathlete #proathlete #basketball #basketballplayer #hongkong

Agreed, step by step. 1. First we reached Asia Cup Finals (ACF) this year, by merits. 2. Be consistent, we need to reach the next ACF. 3. Should we consistently reach ACF for the next one od two decades, then we target for ACF's last 16. 4. Only then, we could dream of to be in the finals for ACF and World Cup respectively. 5. Should we positive on and out of the field for another 12 years, in shaa Allah WC is within our reach.

Malaysia lost 0-4 to Jordan in the first game of Group early today. Despite having more control of the game, we are not able to convert the chances into goals. I have read lots of comments from our local ‘experts’ some praising the young Harimau Malaya team while others criticizing the team. Let’s take this positively and help build us into another footballing nation in the near future. Nothing happens without hardwork and master tactician. This is an achievement considering we have not qualified for more than 42 years and a great achievement for the lads. We were once able to beat the like of Japan and South Korea and let’s do it again. We can certainly do it again. Malaysia Boleh!
