Do you think women are capable of leading? Well, we believe they are, and we are proud to know that the ladies within World Vision are simply amazing at what they do. #StaffSpotlight Meet Chrissy Mbewe Sitima, the District Programs Manager for Machinga District. Chrissy joined the #orangebrand in 2017 as a Maternal and Child Health Coordinator for the southern region operations. In 2022, the trained child health registered nurse changed roles and took up a new challenge as the District Programs Manager. It goes without saying that I love my job; it is quite challenging yes but I think it is also fulfilling. I oversee and lead others towards achieving the ministryโs goals, and building such a successful, cohesive and collaborative team is not easy, but it is definitely possible. It is wonderful to see the peole you are leading excel in their different roles. To add, I have an amazing team in Machinga. Deadlines! That part is the most challenging; meeting many deadlines, balancing work and family roles can be a feat. However, weekly planning and time management have proven to be effective in my daily work. I learned to leave office work on Friday and resume on Monday unless it is an emergency. Earlier when I had just joined World Vision, I travelled to one of the field offices where we supported a child who was malnourished, fortunately, she got better through rehabilitation. The child is now in Standard 3 and I keep checking up on her progress. This part; this is why I love this job. It brings me joy knowing that every action has the potential to change someoneโs life completely. ##HiddenHeroes | #StaffSpotlight | #WeAreWorldVision

People spend a lot of their lives at work (81,396 hours on average), so it is important to our social well-being to invest in workplace friendships. Having these relationships enhances creativity and psychological safety, while building a more collaborative #team that is more committed, communicates better, and supports each other, especially in trying times.ย Like Dr. Murthy said in "Healing Healthcare" [recording here: https://lnkd.in/eNbbiB4U ], having that social #connection, those workplace friendships, was what sustained him through medical training. Not sure where to start? Hereโs a few tips: - Greet people and learn/use their names - Go for coffee or lunch - Bring in food - Be yourself #ThrivingThursdays #CCI #HealthWorkerWellBeing UVA School of Nursing

Iโve worked at AgeSpan since 2015 โ nine years. I started my career at AgeSpan as a Long-Term Support Service Coordinator for Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA). After two years in that role, I was promoted to the Managed Care Program Manager position for the CCA, Senior Care Options, and One Care Programs. Iโve been in this position for seven years. Itโs a combination of meetings, writing reports, and staff development. Most of my meetings focus on strategies to better serve our consumers with prompt home visits, customer service, and care planning. Regarding staff development, my day-to-day holds a level of supervision to coach and work with our direct-care staff in identifying and helping them achieve their professional goals. I enjoy working with our direct staff and helping them achieve their professional goals. I also enjoy creating procedures and aids to support our direct staff with case management and program services. The other aspect I enjoy is hearing about my direct staffโs accomplishments and the positive impact they are making in our community. This is something that brings me a lot of satisfaction. Throughout my journey at AgeSpan, I have been presented with opportunities for professional development through workshops and management-specific training directed to enhance my skill set in case management and leadership. Most recently, I had the opportunity to participate in a meaningful learning collaborative about Accountability for Health Equity. For six months, this learning collaborative met with Area Agencies on Aging from across the country to look at building a plan to have sustainable practices to better include and better serve our minority community. In addition, to come up with strategies to train employees on the importance of health equity. Also, Iโve been working on completing additional training with a focus on health equity, race, and inclusion. This led to the start of DEI groups within our agency. Healthy aging looks different for everyone, based on individual goals. For me, it means taking care of my well-being both physically and mentally. It means always working toward keeping my brain busy with activities like puzzles and reading that foster cognitive function exposure. Itโs been tough to find time to exercise recently, but I still like to take walks regularly.
