Challenging times for sure. As the article reminds us, retention will always be key. Innovation and listening to what this generation entering the work force values is also going to be a big part of meeting staffing needs. Talk with employees you would like to duplicate and build your candidate personas from who they are and what they value. Mission first and helping them contribute to something larger is going to be key as well.
Addressing the staffing shortage among autism service providers will likely require a multi-pronged approach. https://bit.ly/3RrkkKj

Clinical Excellence Program Leader @ Catalight | Innovative Employment Strategies | Compass Work Tool
This Drexler research by Anne Roux tells a lot about why we need to focus long term on careers for people with disabilities. In my research of providers and government agencies I see too much focus on the short term of "just get them a job" to get their 30 day and 6 month incentives. When you have a long term career focus, people develop career skills that lead to a lifetime of employment. I truly believe more people will use government services if the focus is long term on their career. We published a series of articles last year focused on a Lifetime of Employment on the Spectrum. Since then we have designed a new Career Advancement Services program that focuses on careers and career skills development. Check out those previous articles.
