To mix it up, I wanted to share an interview with ocean artist & waterman Marc Hemeon. He allowed us to create a mural from a painting that had a very specific metaphor for Crossover's recent leadership conference. I have known Marc for almost 20 years and besides being one of the most creative people I have ever known, he is also one of the most unique based on his experience, perspective, and connections.
"The reason I paint the ocean is because to me it is the best metaphor for the human condition. It's the best teacher. It's the best mirror to represent humanity. My reflection of it is an attempt to capture what is most prevalent of what you see in our work life, in the companies we start, in the challenges we face, and in the many projects we take on."
This post is an interview (with audio) that we spontaneously captured during the mural installation process. We discuss Marc's creative process, the frantic five day push to conceive and deliver the mural for a conference, and what Marc hopes people experience as they "experience" the mural.
I think you'll dig both the artistry and the authenticity.
