Special Hybrid Session: Doctoral Student Research in Transportation Safety The Standing Committees on Safety Performance Analysis (ACS20) and Statistical Methods (AED60) are pleased to sponsor a special hybrid session at the 2024 Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting, which will highlight ongoing work by Ph.D. students who are nearing the completion of their doctoral research in transportation safety. This session will be comprised of a series of short (3-minute) introductory presentations, followed by a poster session in the same venue that will allow for more extensive discussions on individual projects. This hybrid format will provide a great opportunity for the students to discuss their work with all the attendees. In addition, an award will be presented for the best poster/presentation. The deadline for this call is Friday, October 13, 2023. Students who wish to present their research should: 1. Submit an abstract through Google Forms that provides a summary of their doctoral research (2024 TRB Doctoral Student Research in Transportation Safety (https://lnkd.in/emF9gbis). Students will also be able to upload up to five tables and/or figures in support of their abstract. A template is attached below in messages for your reference. 2. When submitting the abstract, students must also upload a letter from their faculty advisor that clearly states their anticipated graduation date and verifies that this research has NOT been submitted as a part of the normal TRB call for papers. Any questions can be directed to Peter Savolainen. Niloo Parvinashtiani, P.E.

Over the past three days. I've dedicated a substantial proportion of my personal time researching and developing the deployment of a small sized, very low budget server network. It's now complete and fully functional! Attatched to this post is a flowchart illustrating the processes and intermediaries that make up this relatively tiny, beginner's level personal network. Hopefully, this could inspire you to create or modify your own personal network setups. I'd also love feedback from those more knowledgable than me on how I could improve delivery or expand the range of services I provide through my network, which is why I'm making this post in the first place - to ask for advice. Flowchart in higher quality: https://lnkd.in/er27npUr In addition to the flowchart, I've published a post regarding privacy - in preparation for writing my final EPQ dissertation - on one of the websites that have completed development, linked at https://lnkd.in/ep8d_QUZ . I'd be gratified if those of you with time to spare could provide some feedback on refining my style of writing. Thanks in advance, and have a great day! Email Address - [email protected]

This week on OpenSource, Simon Palmer and James Dyke walk us through effective use of "do now" and "review now" techniques to support retrieval for our students. We'll see expert teachers using these techniques in practice and highlighting the importance of them. What is "do now"? It is one of the many forms or retrieval practice that students work through every day at Dixons. It should be a mix of knowledge recall and application. The notes taken to track your students work during the "do now" informs the "review now". Watch the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/eDksPKvb
