THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU Even the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development AGREES THAT adopting FINLAND'S MODEL OF ERADICATING HOMELESSNESS may be of great value to resolving the affordable housing and homelessness crises in America https://lnkd.in/gkSZWYRU

Last night, Boston College officially announced its largest capital campaign in history. Soaring Higher, a $3 billion initiative to raise funding for academics, financial aid, and student life, seeks to increase financial aid opportunities, enhance teaching and scholarship across all of BC’s schools and colleges, and grow student internships, graduate fellowships, and support for international study. The campaign also focuses on support for Messina College, a residential, two-year program for underserved students that will open at Boston College in 2024. Soaring Higher is just the beginning - the future is bright! 🦅 "Central to the campaign is an initiative to raise $1 billion to boost financial aid for low- and middle-income families, helping BC to maintain its commitment to need-blind admissions and meeting the full demonstrated need of undergraduate students. This academic year, Boston College will award $166 million in undergraduate need-based financial aid, an allocation that will be significantly increased through the campaign." https://campaign.bc.edu/

LOANS | TRAINING | SCHOLARSHIPS - Advancing Economic Development in South Florida by Supporting Minority-Owned Businesses & Education
Happy International Day of Education! Education is at the forefront of our organization. Whether it's supporting the educational endeavors of minority students or developing educational programs to help support the small businesses that boost our local economy, it's what we are committed to. On this day, we want to highlight three of our amazing educational community partners. @mdcollege @fiuinstagram @fmu_official Miami Dade College, founded on the belief in universal access to higher education, provides over 300 distinct degree pathways at its eight campuses. Since 1998, MBF has supported this mission by endowing scholarships for minority students residing in the City of Miami. Florida International University (FIU) receives vital support from MBF, demonstrating a strong commitment to community advancement through initiatives such as the University-Wide Scholarship, First Generation Scholarship Program, Golden Scholars Program, and MBF MBA Scholarship for students in FIU's MBA Downtown or Professional MBA Flex programs. The MBF Scholarship at Florida Memorial University (FMU) was established in 2012 to encourage college achievement among City of Miami residents. FMU is a private coeducational institution with the distinction of being one of the oldest academic centers in the state, and the only historically Black university in South Florida. #veterans - The GI Bill is a great benefit that our Military Veterans have earned, often at great cost. But most Student Veterans are unable to finish their degrees with just the GI Bill. As nontraditional students, these Veterans (and often their spouses) face financial barriers that make the goal of a college degree nearly impossible. Student Veterans attending Texas A&M bring notable strengths that will impact our State, Nation & World. Creating Endowed Scholarships at Texas A&M for Veterans and their spouses make lasting impacts that serve future generations of Veterans who aspire to call themselves Aggies. YOU can help make that impact a reality.
Scholarships change students’ lives, and no one says it better than our own Al Pulliam ’87, assistant vice president for scholarship programs. 👍 We are thrilled to share his passion and expertise with you in our new Giving Academy video series on creating scholarships at Texas A&M University. Dive in as he discusses the need for scholarships in Aggieland and the many options for customizing your gift! Check it out: https://bit.ly/3wdXxuM
