Interesting article on the growing challenges and costs facing landlords in meeting energy efficiency standards and the trend towards outsourcing sustainability strategy. Half of landlords are reportedly reluctant to improve their commercial property’s energy efficiency rating, citing the difficulties involved. With the legislation on energy performance certificates getting stricter this year – a trend that is certain to continue – it’s crucial the industry finds a way to adapt. 🏙️🌱#commericalrealestate #sustainability https://lnkd.in/dcFwxvtU

Staff parking is one of the biggets headaches for both facilities managers and also employees themselves. For employees it can add a layer of anxiety on whether or not there will be a parking space available when they arrive at work, for facilities managers it is trying to deal with parking infringements and ensuring spaces are being used up each day as parking doesn't come cheap in many major cities worldwide. Take a look below at how Ronspot has made yearly savings of €25,000 for SSE Airtricity. SSE had issues getting greater efficiency out of their parking spaces on a daily bases, many spaces were going unused and costing the company thousands. This also led to frustrated employees who could see there were empty spaces everyday but were not allowed to use the car park. After implementing Ronspot SSE could give all staff access to the car park and allowed them to book spaces with an app on their phone subject to availabilty. SSE now rarely see empty spaces in the car park, while also boosting staff morale. Whether your an SME or Multi-National if your open to learning new ways of managing your office parking or even office space get in touch there are saving like the above to be made 😉 - [email protected] https://lnkd.in/efhaYAiu

In this BE News feature, our Head of Renewables, Chris Gill, gives his views on what’s ahead for the sector, saying: “Last year marked the third time renewables outperformed fossil fuels for electricity generation in the UK, an incredible achievement considering it has come from a standing start at the turn of the millennium. "To continue this strong growth, the renewables sector will need to shift towards a greater mix of energy production, which has been boosted by proposed regulation changes that no longer class battery storage as a generator of grid capacity. This is quite right considering its long-term future role in alleviating grid constraints.” Chris will be joining a roundtable hosted by BE News on the 23rd of January, where industry figureheads will discuss: Renewable energy – how do we pursue it with renewed purpose? Interesting thoughts on the strenthening case for retrofitting from Adam here following some really energetic and thought provoking panel sessions at the Office Series.
I really enjoyed moderating the panel discussion on office retrofit projects at last week's event, UK Office Series: The Renaissance. With thanks to the panel Ben Gillam, Isabel Thomas, Robin Pritchett, Fergus Evans and Richard Taylor, it made for a genuinely interesting debate. I've penned this article with some of my thoughts on the drivers towards more retrofit projects, particularly in the office sector. #retrofit #pinsentmasons #bisnow
