We all know that good housing is expensive and hard to find. By converting commercial stock into "green" housing though, cities can cut emissions and avoid new construction. A new study found that "roughly 11% of commercial office buildings in the 105 largest cities are suitable candidates for conversion" - that's about 400,000 new apartment units. The big challenge here? Local zoning laws, permitting policies, and building codes can play a major role in either greenlighting or slowing these projects. #GreenHousing #AffordableHousing #Housing
