Today, I had a wonderful opportunity to meet with Kabi C. at the Utah Community Builders, a nonprofit community impact foundation affiliated with the Salt Lake Chamber. Their mission is to engage Utah's business community in addressing issues that strengthen our workforce, families, and all residents of Utah. A few takeaways from their "Guide to Family-Friendly Workplaces": 1. Child Care Crisis: Utah is grappling with a significant child care challenge that impacts our workforce and economy. The lack of accessible child care services results in an estimated annual economic loss of $1.36 billion for the state. 2. Business Impact: Child care is not solely a family concern; it also affects businesses by influencing how and why we work. Employers that offer child care support can enhance employee retention and set themselves apart in the market. 3. Employer Solutions: Employers can contribute by providing flexible work schedules, exploring child care options, and offering resources such as a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or on-site child care facilities. 4. Collective Responsibility: It's crucial for workplaces to acknowledge their role in promoting child care options, as this can yield significant benefits for both employees and organizations. #UtahCommunityBuilders #FamilyFriendlyWorkplaces #BusinessImpact #ChildCareCrisis #HR

This is the first time we have five generations in the workforce at the same time. What does that mean for leadership and how are you managing the diversity of age, ideas and culture? Erin Hall recently had this conversation with the National Organization for State Associations of Children and agrees that you have to adjust your management style depending on the generation. Should you also adjust your recruitment strategies? Yes! Let’s chat about what your recruitment plan should look like. Learn more from Blue Avocado: https://lnkd.in/gcg2wxfj

How can your organization contribute to social good? How can you involve employees in the company's philanthropic efforts? Employees want to feel their work has meaning. An easy way to demonstrate the meaning behind the work is by involving employees to show the difference their contributions are making. The SHRM article linked below references USANA Health Sciences who include learning about the USANA Foundation as part of their new employee orientation. Employees aren't going to work for years without knowing the importance of their work. They are told on day one about the foundation's work that has resulted in over 100 million meals being provided to needy children and families in 44 countries. Employees are also given updates on the foundation's work at every quarterly all-hands meeting. On company time and expense, the corporation arranges trips to various locations, both national and international, where employees help implement Garden Tower projects - partnering with other nonprofit organizations to provide resources that enable people to grow sustainable nutritious food locally. Chief People Officer Paul Jones shared, "Annual employee engagement surveys indicate that the impact of our philanthropy on employee engagement and retention is definitely affected positively. Both employees and customers want to be part of a good cause that really matters.” To learn about more organizations who are successfully boosting talent retention through corporate philanthropy, check out the article linked below. https://lnkd.in/eHWSTGyU #OnPurposeAdventures #EmployeeRetention #OrganizationalCulture #CorporatePhilanthropy
