When hiring for an event make sure you have people in positions that they feel comfortable in. If not, you will learn quickly that things can go south. Confirm with them beforehand that they are comfortable with the job.

My response to post: What you're missing is you're now a TOP contender with those companies. What you do now with them is crucial. Your post was going great 'til you hit the angry part at the end, accusing THEM of bad behavior. AIM gun at foot and shoot. YOU are NOT going to retrain hiring managers or recruiters but please know WE can give YOU insight. I know this is frustrating but there is different criteria that you may not know - or maybe you DO, as you hint at it. USE THAT info to be strategic in your goals, follow up AND reverse-engineer your search. As always, focus on what you can control, (be agile and positive) and keep moving forward.
Event Planning & Management | Trade Show Manager | Corporate Communications | Public Relations | Project and Marketing Management | Brand Marketing | Conference Manager
So that's 4 interviews over the past 2 weeks...4 rejections. One of them even specifically reached out to me right on this platform. And nearly all of them sent personal emails with the following statements: "You will likely receive an automated message from our system as well, but I wanted to reach out to you personally to let you know the reasons behind our decision." "I really enjoyed getting to know you better during our conversation last week!" "We very much enjoyed our interview with you and were specifically impressed by your enthusiasm and knowledge for event planning and the way you’re able to genuinely connect with vendors/attendees in the process." And they were also followed with these statements: "We opted for another candidate whose credentials met more of the position’s criteria." "We ended up getting several applicants for this role who have experience specifically with event planning in our industry, and decided to prioritize those candidates for the next round. I will keep your information in our database in case for any reason we don't end up hiring from that pool." So, you really liked me and my experience, you take the time to craft personal emails and feedback, but apparently, you all have some unicorn, laser-focused checklist that you will not deviate from whatsoever? Great event planners and managers are great event managers and planners...no matter what industry they are planning for. Trade shows and conferences have specific elements that need to be addressed and adhered to, plus, if you have great industry contacts to make everything smoother, what a plus. I have all of this, and more. Yet I am not hired. Feeling really worthless right now.

Did you know? A survey conducted by Eventbright said 73% of event creators reported feeling stressed in their jobs. It certainly takes a specific character to be successful in events…and it is particularly impressive when people forge life-time careers in this high pressured industry. As we slowly begin to emerge out of exhibition season I think it’s a good opportunity for anyone in events to step back and congratulate themselves on a job well done! 👏 Reflect on your achievements since January. Ask yourself: - What do you know now that you didn’t in January? - What do you feel the most proud of? - What do you want to achieve towards the latter end of the year? - What emotions, reactions and thoughts aren’t serving you well and how are you going to navigate around them to feel better in yourself? We’ve talked a lot in the office recently about that inner voice we all have and how important it is to take control of the voice so that it’s positive and serves you well in your day to day life. As workloads begin to slow (ish), take 5 minutes to reflect on a job well done! And remind yourself that what you do isn’t a regular job. The pressure is high, the emotional roller coaster is real …but we’re never bored! 🤪🤣 #NationalSkilledTradesDay
