In celebration of #WorldOceansDay, we’re thrilled to share an incredible milestone! We’ve officially diverted more than 300 tons of plastic, otherwise bound for the ocean, and given it a second life in the construction of our Second Wave payment cards. Since launching Second Wave® payment cards in 2019, we continue to strive toward our goal of reducing first-use plastics in the payments industry. Read more: https://hubs.la/Q02zMcmk0

This World Environment Day, let's do our part in saving what's left and restoring what's lost. It's not just about seeing change; it's about making it happen. The financial sector and its subsidiaries have the power to make a significant impact by preventing the loss of 2,949,375 pine trees and reducing paper waste by 29,493,750,000 sheets. My kids have taken me out litter picking today because it’s #WorldEarthDay. The theme #PlanetvsPlastic has me wondering if it’s finally time to stop issuing plastic membership cards. While ICB’s are recycled and recyclable are they reconcilable with our sustainability goals? I’d love to know what Certified Bookkeepers think. -Are physical membership cards anti-planet and just plain old-fashioned? -Do you like your membership card and would you miss it? -Do you show your card to clients? -Do you use it for quick access to our phone number/your ICB number? -Would you prefer a digital card? -Are there alternatives you’d like us to consider? What do 2 blue whales and payment cards have in common? They weigh approximately 300 metric tons, which is the amount of plastic we’ve diverted from entering the ocean since launching Second Wave cards in 2019. Making the world a little cleaner one card at a time, we’re proud to be innovators in the eco-focused movement beyond #EarthWeek. As a member of NextWave, CPI utilizes recovered ocean-bound plastic in our Second Wave® payment cards, reducing our reliance on first-use plastic. NextWave Plastics is a group of companies that work to decrease the volume of plastic litter entering the ocean by developing a network of ocean-bound plastic supply chains.
