Diabetes is one of the top 10 causes of death in the U.S. The disease impacts more than 37 million Americans with 1.2 million new cases diagnosed annually. The overwhelming majority are type 2 diabetes cases, which can often be managed with lifestyle changes like being active and eating nutrient-rich foods. Based on a new qualified health claim from the FDA, yogurt could be one of those foods. IDFA's Roberta Wagner joined Danone's Stephanie K. Goodwin, PhD, MPH, RD to author this new Agri-Pulse Communications column explaining the significance of this qualified health claim and how it can help shape public policy and federal nutrition program decisions that improve American's dietary quality and health outcomes. Navigating the transition period in a cow's life is crucial for optimal health and milk production. At this time, they face various risk factors like stress, disease, and even metabolic disorders like ketosis and milk fever. To tackle these challenges, Afimilk offers tools that aid in making informed decisions. Afimilk MPC and milk meter flag any cow not meeting the expected yield, while AfiLab uses milk component analysis to detect potential ketosis early. Aficollar, a neck sensor, tracks rumination, eating habits and activity to identify any deviations. Combined with robust cow ID systems, we're empowering farms to detect and act on health issues promptly. All for healthier, productive cows and a thriving dairy business. Read our blog on the topic for more information. https://hubs.la/Q01WKgvq0 #Afimilk #TransitionCows #DairyFarming #CowHealth #TechnologyInFarming

Just attended the #WHA77 side event coorganized by NCD Alliance and Resolve To Save Lives on #SaltReduction as key ingredient for effective food policies. This is important for Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) as unhealthy diets are a leading cause of death and disease globally, fueled by excessive intake of salts, fat, or sugar. Key takeaways if we want salt reduction to become scalable and sustainable: 🌻 Evidence is key to adopt right policy for meaningful structural change 🌻Countries must find their own paths adopting the right regulatory framework to reduce demand and offer of salts via new marketing, labeling, taxation, and targeted public settings rules - bold commitment from member states is needed here for keeping checks and balances 🌻Advocacy campaigns with strong behaviour change Comms are very needed 🌻Potassium enriched salt works as a simple effective tool equivalent to a regular vaccine vs hypertension (unless you have kidney problems of course)
