At Covenant House California, we work every day with young people who have been the victims of crime. In particular, young women and men who have experienced trafficking, often alongside other traumas. With nearly 30% of all homeless youth in the U.S. located in California, and with 1 in 3 young people who are people experiencing homelessness reporting that they have been approached by a trafficker within 48 hours on the street—we firmly believe in the urgency of this work, and are grateful for all the support we receive from funders and partners to better serve this vulnerable group. National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW)—happening right now, April 21-27, 2024—is an annual observance meant to bring awareness to the experiences of crime victims, and, more importantly, to offer them hope for the future. The 2024 theme asks all of us—friends, family members, neighbors, colleagues, community leaders, victim service providers, criminal justice practitioners, and health professionals—how would you help? During NCVRW, we're reaffirming our commitment to relentlessly engaging and unconditionally loving youth—especially those who have fallen victim to crimes--and providing a full continuum of wrap around services to improve overall well-being and ensure a path forward to a successful future. We pledge to always do what we can, wherever we can to help young victims of crime—during NCVRW and all year long! Will you join us?
