From what I have learned at my internship with New View Design, there are so many different aspects of this career. Technology makes it a lot easier. They use google based resources like slides and sheets to share information between the designers, builder, and the clients. Resources like AutoCAD make it easier to project specific designs and ideas. While finding products on the computer is helpful, it is even better in person. The Showroom is an essential part of the design process because seeing things in person can be very different from the computer.@NeboSchoolDistrictCTEInternship @ChristineThomas #nebointerns #nebo #sfhsintern #SFHS #cteinternships #cteintern #internships #newviewdesign #interiordesign

Internship Stories An introductory course for adulting starts with internship during the college days. That's when you step slightly into the world of reality with some strings attached to the safe net. Sample state of responsibilities, limited expectation levels, learning curve with training to become what is expected out of us in future. My internship involved two offices which gave me two polar opposite experiences. The first six months of my internship was entry into architecture with the very famous Toilet drawings. You are not an architect if you don't do toilet drawings for two months in any office. These six months involved me to sharpen my skill set yet work with a safety net. I would say it was really encouraging to step into this world. The next six months was a complete opposite experience. Strict would be an understatement of what the atmosphere was. Silences were so loud that I could hear the clock ticking like in movies. But sometimes tough practices make solid habits. I learnt discipline, office decorum, hierarchy, tougher side of this business with still a safety net in the background. So much was I involved in this place that I continued the internship even during college. Perhaps that's where I learnt multitasking between two different stages of this field. Apart from all the work that happened, there were some bonds made, some memories created, some lunches which I would never forget, some goals that were realized, some interaction from different spheres and various stages of life and some experiences which will never be part of a curriculum but an importance chapter of our lives. Comment below if you relate to the same.

Internships are unpaid! Jobs are underpaid! Where are we headed? The question of paid internships and underpaid jobs is spreading hot in the field. Various stands and povs can be seen on the topic. But the question remains. Where are we looking at in the coming 10 years? What does architecture, construction and infrastructure mean to the society and the country? People are bothered to join the field due to these news, posts and future prospect of the field! 50% seats are vacant, and continue to grow. This is the time to stay together and take some serious steps. Some serious steps to help the community to grow and flourish together. What's your pov?? Let's discuss ________________________________ #ArchitectureInternship #AECIndustry #EmpowerArchitects #UnpaidExploitation #EqualPay #CareerAdvancement #AdvocateForChange #Architecture #Internships #Society #tomorrow

Architecture Students: Summer internships are being posted; here are five things I wish I had done during my search. ☀️ It's that time again – summer internship applications are opening up, and it's time to decide where you're going to spend those precious summer weeks. In architecture, a bad choice isn't necessarily going to set you back, but a good choice can help you leapfrog your career forward. 1️⃣ Treat this search like you are looking for a full-time job, not just a summer internship. If you do well and they like you, they may extend an opportunity to continue to work there while you are in school or after you graduate. 2️⃣ Given #1 above, be sure that you not only like the work that the firm is doing, but you also enjoy their company culture. 3️⃣ Be sure to prepare to interview potential employers as much as they interview you. Consider what you want to learn (realistically) within a summer, and make sure what they will have you doing as an intern will help you do that. 4️⃣ It's OK to ask, and you should ask - if you can reach out to others in the firm and have conversations with them about what it's like to work there. 5️⃣ Always ALWAYS follow up via email (or be a dork like me and write a handwritten card in the lobby to give to the front desk on your way out) and reiterate your interest in working for the firm. It leaves a positive impression. Bonus!!! ✨An Internship is also a GREAT time to pursue other potential career interests you may be interested in pursuing. There are a lot of different paths for those with an architecture background. Now, those summer internships. Who's ready to make their summer count? #architects #architecturestudents #summerinternships #businessoperations #archcareers _____________________ I'm Evelyn Lee, FAIA, NOMA I help architects: ⇒ Think Differently ⇒ Increase Productivity ⇒ Create Opportunities
