January is Mental Wellness Month. In an effort to increase awareness and reduce the stigma around mental health, we are breaking down how addiction changes the way in which your brain works, and how this impacts your mental wellness. We break down: -The Limbic System (Your Reward Center) -The Amygdala (Your Danger Detector) -The Prefrontal Cortex (Your Voice of Reason) According to the World Health Organization, 970 Million people battle a mental health disorder. Of those, 1 in 4 have a substance use disorder. May is Mental Health Month, and we want to raise awareness about the connection between mental health and substance use disorder. Did you know that these two conditions can often co-exist? Substance use can sometimes be a way for individuals to cope with underlying mental health conditions. In fact, people with substance use disorders are up to three times more likely to have a mental health condition. Adding treatment for mental health to substance use recovery significantly increases the success rate. By addressing underlying mental health conditions, we can better understand the root causes of addiction and develop effective coping strategies. It’s essential to seek help and support for both conditions to achieve overall well-being. At Anonymous Health, we can treat co-occurring disorders, and we want to help you take that next step in your recovery journey. Learn more at anonymoushealth.com. #MentalHealthAwareness

Mental health is so important and yet not always so easily understood. Things are getting better but there is still stigma attached to discussing mental health, which can delay seeking and accessing help when it is needed. Thankfully, more and more of us have trained and qualified in mental health first aid. This means we can assess the situation, listen without judgment, give practical and emotional support, and encourage other support strategies. If you don’t “feel right”, don’t suffer in silence. And if good mental health is something you want to contribute to, maybe consider training in MHFA.

How do you define mental health? Although there isn’t an easy answer to this question, it all boils down to how we think, feel, and behave. Mental health specialists have the tools to help people with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, addiction, and other conditions. In the United States, the National Alliance on Mental Illness estimates that almost 1 in 5 adults experience mental health problems each year. That means that for 20% of the adult population, mental health affects their daily living, relationships, and physical health. The opposite is also true. Factors in people’s lives, interpersonal connections, and physical factors can affect people’s mental illnesses. So how do you define mental health? Let’s take a look at what people mean when they say they have a mental illness. https://lnkd.in/gkAzpefq #mentalhealth #anxiety #anxietyawareness #mood #depression #treatment

Breaking the Stigma and Embracing the Power of Therapy Sadly, stigma exists on help-seeking when it comes to mental health. For me, I have found the benefits of psychological therapy profound in many areas of my life. Life can throw unexpected challenges that leave you feeling a range of emotions that can be difficult to process. A psychologist provides a safe and non-judgmental space to explore and navigate these emotions, helping you gain clarity and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Additionally, regular sessions with a psychologist can help strengthen your mental resilience, enabling you to face life's challenges with greater confidence and adaptability. If you are having a tough time; seeking help is a sign of strength. FIFO Mental Health Group. has a comprehensive list of support services available across a diverse range of populations. If you would like a copy, please let me know, and I will send it to you.
