Taiwan - Taipei Comic Exhibition expected to pull 500,000 visitors, generate more than $9.5 million revenue. Chinese Animation and Comics Publishers Association secretary-general Roger Kao told the Central News Agency that ten thousand fans were at the doors before the event opened, despite the lurking presence of Typhoon Doksuri. And early signs are this will be a record year for the event. Pre-Covid Exhibitions averaged 400,000 visitors, a number matched in January by the Taipei International Comics and Animation Festival, which pulled revenues of US$3.2 million. But Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an said he was expecting more than 500,000 visitors, spending more, with a figure of NT$300 million ($9.5 million) being touted. The event finishes Monday, July 31.
