Independent Company Director AvSuper, Independent IR Consultant, Former Mayor & Councillor City of Whittlesea, Justice of the Peace
I read this post with some obvious interest as to how it will actually work after the pause of an elected Council. My view is also colored by being involved at the time. As many of the officers are new and had no exposure to antics of some of the former councillors it is absolutely appropriate that training is provided. I trust that the behaviors were discussed and people shown what inappropriate actions occurred. These included bullying staff without the CEOs knowledge, open abuse of staff members at Council meetings pressure upon the CEO to comply with their (individual councillor) opinions. There are two probity reports publicly available following the action of one councillor against the then CEO. Also the process surrounding the dismissal of at least three CEOs. Governance will be fundamental to the return of elected Councillors and the respect of being able to work with a CEO and be non operational.
As part of our planning at the City of Whittlesea for the return to an Elected Council next year, we are refreshing our Senior Leadership Team on the roles and responsibilities of Officers and Councillors. Thank you Victorian Local Governance Association and Hunt & Hunt Lawyers for this valuable session.

We include compelling historical events and analyses throughout our Human-centered leadership courses to help our learners align those events with contemporary events that affect the healthcare experience of people and communities of color. Here is an example of an event we include: The case of Simkins v. Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital is a landmark legal battle that significantly advanced the cause of civil rights in the realm of healthcare. Challenging and ultimately changing the discriminatory practices of hospitals that received federal funding helped pave the way for the desegregation of healthcare facilities in the United States. The formal apology issued by Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital to the Simkins plaintiffs underscores the ongoing process of reconciliation and the importance of acknowledging and addressing past injustices to move forward.
