Ten years ago today I started with UnitedHealthcare. Fun fact - I almost missed my chance because I got lost in the round-about one way system on my way to my first interview. In honor of what has been a beautiful journey, I’ve written my younger-self ten lessons for ten years - 1. Front line, customer-facing work is some of the most rewarding and some of the hardest work you can do. Cherish it. It will influence how you see your purpose in every role from here on out. 2. The job requirements might say you need some things you don’t yet have. Apply anyway. You know your potential better than any req ever could. 3. Good bosses tell you “good job”. Great bosses help you see what you can do better. 4. No amount of money can ever equate to investing in strong relationships. 5. Never apologize for knowing your value, and never regret acknowledging it. 6. There’s something to learn in every peak and every valley, but you have to be willing to pick your head up to see it. 7. We can achieve more together than we can achieve alone. 8. Shoot your shot and find your champions. 9. Trust your gut. It has never steered you wrong. 10. Follow your passion. You’ll know it when you feel it. It feels like home. Can’t wait to see what lessons the next ten years bring.

15-Year Talent Acquisition Person | Executive Recruiter | Strategy Recruiting @ Chartis | "Parks & Recreation" Super Fan | Humorist
Today is my 8th anniversary at Chartis and it's been a few years since I posted the welcome card I received from the great Daniel Herman on my first day. (I still keep it in my desk.) My grand plan was to stay at Chartis for 5 years because up until the point when I joined the firm, my longest tenure was three and a half years so I wanted to demonstrate some sticking power. Which thinking back on that now sort of makes me laugh since the average job tenure is down to under 2 years. But here on the big 8, I am feeling reflective...so let's be all consultant-y and take a look at my time at Chartis by the numbers. ⏲ In my 8 years here I've hired 71 FTEs. ⏲ I can't even begin to count the number of contractors I've hired so we'll call that too many to count (hey, I'm not one of our actual consultants so get over it). ⏲ At one point in time, I had hired 75% of our #RevenueCycle practice. ⏲ I've served 4 of our major practice areas: Technology, Revenue Cycle, Performance Improvement, and now I am with our Strategy group. ⏲ I've been promoted 3 times. ⏲ OK, I don't travel like a real #consultant, but I still have a miles status in the 6-figures. ⏲ I've directly led 6 people and mentor many others leading to at least 3 promotions that I can think of. ⏲ I've probably cursed in the millions of times and it's one of my favorite things about the firm. heh heh. Dan's wish for me was that I would welcome the challenge, enjoy the culture, and contribute to our clients' success and make healthcare better by recruiting the best and brightest to the firm... 💌 A wish that will never be fully achieved, but contributed to every day. #anniversary #recruiter #RecruiterLife #Big8 **** ⭐ Want to work here, too? Dawn Harrison - We are hiring and Julian Harrison both celebrate their 9-year Xpertise Anniversaries today! 🎉 9 years is an amazing achievement and we are so proud of everything Dawn and Julian have both achieved and are very grateful for all of their hard work based in our head office. Our Managing Director, Richard Harrison, has shared a few words about Dawn and Julian: 'Dawn is a one off, she’s incredibly passionate, if you care she cares, she’s an amazing coach, she doesn’t accept mediocracy and probably due to the nature of being a People leader is largely misunderstood unless you have the privilege of working with her consistently. It’s amazing to see how the people who have developed to team leader level in Xpertise historically, those people with a growth and accountable mindset have responded so positively to her coaching, management and leadership coaching. I have been incredibly lucky to work with her for this period. Being a People leader is a tough role, but she does it so well and with a smile on her face.' 'Julian is a tech recruitment industry legend. What he doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing. As well as being incredibly well connected, he’s an oracle of knowledge about businesses, where technologists fit, what they do, how to find the best talent and if challenged by technology leaders he stands out a mile from the rest in terms of genuine credibility, know-how and authenticity. The ultimate tech recruitment leader basically who like the postman always delivers. It’s been awesome to be able to bounce off him on so many occasions to drive things forward.'
