Each month here at Cornell University Veterinary Specialists, we celebrate the work anniversaries for our outstanding medical team. Today we’re shining the spotlight on Rebecca (Moskal) Terra, a Veterinary Technician Specialist (BS, LVT, VTS) in Anesthesia & Analgesia. She is a graduate of Mercy University. Rebecca wears many hats and is currently the Surgery Service Supervisor and Trainer at CUVS, as well as an adjunct instructor in the Veterinary Technology program at Mercy University. As Rebecca’s career advanced, she developed a passion for anesthesia, practicing the best possible medicine for her patients and proudly advocating for those without a voice. It's this passion that inspired Rebecca and her fellow CUVS colleague, Tracey Mahoney LVT, VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia) to co-found CARES VetMed, a comprehensive anesthesia review and education series for veterinary medicine. Via CARES VetMed, Rebecca and Tracey strive to teach safe anesthesia practices to remove fear from anesthetic events. Thank you for your hard work and dedication! #employeeanniversaries #employeeappreciation #veterinarymedicine #veterinariananesthesia #anesthesiaeducation #veterinarytechnicians #vettechs #inclusiveculture

In a 2022 Veterinarian Wellbeing Study conducted by Merck Animal Health and AVMA, research showed that 30.5% of veterinarians and 49.6% of veterinary staff reported experiencing high levels of burnout in 2021. Job burnout can lead to a whole host of mental health and anxiety issues. May is Mental Health and Anxiety Awareness Month. Mental health, just like your physical health, is extremely important. To get a better idea of your mental health, check out Mental Health America’s online screening tests.
