**Note on the following: When I refer to “Preservation” in this piece, I mean a broad cultural phenomena in Buffalo as opposed to the strict “identifying culturally significant buildings and working to maintain them, etc.” Analogous terms may be “historicism” or “traditionalism.” But “preservation” seems the most appropriate as it connotes a culturally conservative principle seeking to explicitly orient design/building culture toward the past.**
