📰 Breaking news for employers participating in DOD SkillBridge and for any transitioning service members (Marine Corps) just announced: 🗞️The U.S. Marine Corps just announced cuts to the allotted time Marines can participate in the DOD SkillBridge program which will have an impact on service members as well as employers participating in DOD SkillBridge. 💭While this only impacts the Marine Corps for the time being, U.S. military branches continue to struggle with recruitment and retention and it may not be long before other branches follow suit. For any service members considering transitioning out in the next year or so, I would recommend connecting with these awesome veterans and employers that are tagged below who frequently volunteer their time to help service members ensure a smooth transition. Bonus points since most of them are actively hiring 😎. My husband was approved for SkillBridge (SB) but had to choose between SB and terminal leave. He choose SB because I partnered with a great recruiter at an organization in which my husband wanted an opportunity to work at. He was authorized to travel 1 day before the start of his SB.
In some cases it is being actively discouraged or denied. It’s essential for every servicemember as one of the keys for a successful transition.
Thanks for sharing! SkillBridge is a great program, but unfortunately it is not guaranteed. I wish servicemembers were taught more about networking (especially with civiian recruiters) long before seperation/retirement.
The transitioning programs are terrible anyways! They always take from the military and the veterans first. When I went through I learned nothing. These days you are better off educating yourself through YouTube!
Disheartening to hear. If you’re a veteran or milspouse relocating to or remaining in the Nashville area, give me a shout and I’ll do my best to connect you for roles and opportunities at Vandy or other employers within the area.
"Want to know how to lose more enlisted folks overnight..."
Thanks a lot for sharing and spreading the word Corey Maywald, MBA, CASR, CSMR, PRC. It's really disappointing and disheartening to hear. Glad we have such a strong and supportive community of people who are ready to lend a hand and create positive change!
