🏀 We did it! 🏀 Thanks to our Blackstone real estate portfolio company partners and the generosity of their employees, customers, and business partners, we’ve surpassed our Bracket Battle fundraising goal! Together, we've funded the equivalent of 1.3 million meals for the 1 in 5 children facing hunger in America. We are deeply grateful for the 1,800 Bracket Battle supporters who share our belief that no child should ever experience the anxiety and devastating effects of hunger. This year, we’re on a mission to provide 20 million meals through our nationwide network of hunger-relief partners, so let’s keep the momentum going! Thank you for inspiring others to join our movement and continue making a tangible difference in the lives of children and families in our local communities. #NeighborsHelpingNeighbors #EndHunger #ThankYou American Campus Communities; April Housing; Beam Living; BioMed Realty; EQ Office; Link Logistics; LivCor, a Blackstone Portfolio Company; Preferred Apartment Communities; Revantage, A Blackstone Portfolio Company; and ShopCore Properties

Closing 172 units in Boise, Idaho, is up next. Our fund will have acquired $281 million in deals over the last 60 days. We open up our fund waiting list for new investors to join us about once a month . When we started flipping houses in NJ over a dozen years ago, we didn't know what the Lord had in store. Now, we 1) Carve out a % of company profits to support Kingdom building philanthropy. 2) Put on-site "Cares Teams" in FREE apartments to drive tenant satisfaction and a culture of community 3) Partner with a local church to serve those communities in different ways (free tutoring for kids over the summer and oil changes for single moms in the parking lots are just a few examples of what's possible!) Turns out you can do well and do good #investingwithpurpose #impactinvesting **this is not an offer to sell securities, all investment carries risk, past performance not indicative of future success. In down markets, professionals leverage good diligence to mine for gold. We will see some new winners emerge at the top of the leaderboard in VC when this market turns.
"We're in a down cycle, and we have been for awhile. It's tough to raise money...Historically, the best time to invest is when it's hard to raise money. So that's the ironic part about the cycle, the best times for forward looking returns is when things look the darkest, which is where we are now," Vinik said. "So I would recommend investors take advantage of the current climate and put money to work." Taken from the Tampa Bay Business Journal this morning. We feel the exact same way Florida Funders and are excited about our next Fund's vintage.

As the clocks go back and the night draws in, it got me thinking about my childhood, and the unwritten rule that when the streetlights came on, we all knew it was time to go home and play time was over. Now, as a parent myself, these universal ‘rules’ have changed. The surge in technology means screen time is up and outside time is down. Going outside to play after school isn’t as popular as logging online to talk to pals. Parents are also increasingly risk averse and uncertain about allowing children to play outdoors with a rise in awareness of the risks of traffic, stranger danger, and perceived anti-social behaviours. Outdoor play has a central, important and strategic role in how children cope with the worlds increasing challenges and uncertainties. To some, this may seem too simple to work. For others, like those living in our cities, this might seem inaccessible. Still, the science is in: Getting outside can greatly benefit children and their families physical, social, mental health and well-being. Parents/Carers must think back to their own childhoods and the benefits that they yielded from playing outdoors. What if, like the baby box, every child in Scotland received a head torch for their sixth or seventh birthday? How many more life enhancing adventures would our children have playing outdoors? I would love to hear your thoughts?........... #OutdoorPlayIsTheWay Playing Out Play Scotland International Play Association (IPA) Scotland Angela Watt Anna Campbell MBE Zahra Hedges Danielle Maxwell David Duke MBE Julia Abel Kim Atkinson Lynsey Monaghan Susan Aktemel Mairi Ferris Celia Tennant FRSA Teresa Ashmead Cherie Morgan Maureen McKenna Paul McIlvenny Paul Liddell Michaela Collins MBE Robyn Monro Miller AM tam baillie
"What if, like the baby box, every child in Scotland received a head torch for their sixth or seventh birthday?" Our Fund Manager Melodie Crumlin takes a deep dive into what happens when the streetlights come on, and why we should be supporting children to continue playing outdoors in an era of risk averse parents. Did You Know about Seattle Public Schools (SPS) Funding Model? ❗ SPS doesn’t fully fund each individual school, it has a Tier method of funding. ❗ The weighted funding model is based on Tier assignment which ensures low-income communities receive more funding, relies on PTAs to fill in known gaps in school budgets. ❗ A weighted funding model means that as your number goes up the community comes around the school to provide critical funding to bridge that gap for that school. PTA organizations have stepped in to fill this gap. Funds are raised on a YEARLY basis. If the funding is not met that year then the school will lose it the following year. There is not a cushion to carry us year to year. We had the the opportunity to create a quality video while helping raise crucial funds for a local public school. Check out the video here (and don't forget to support your local PTA!): https://lnkd.in/gMgSSTcz If you are part of a group trying to do something good, reach out to our team.
