Do you play pickleball? ... enjoy giving back to your community? ... want to meet leaders across the CRE and AEC industries in DFW? ... suffer from a severe case of FOMO? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, you'll be thrilled to hear that registration for teams to compete in ULI Dallas-Fort Worth's first annual charity pickleball tournament is live through the link below. FallBall: Pickleball Showdown for Scholarships is scheduled for afternoon of October 3rd at Chicken N Pickle's one of a kind facility located within the The Epic development in the City of Grand Prairie. The event will consist of 16 teams play a elimination style bracket, opportunities for limited open court play for attendees, and of course lots of time and space to breakout and network over drinks, yard games, and small bites while the tournament happens! Our team is super excited to share that the event is entirely dedicated to raising funds for scholarships in support of the Urban Land Institute's Building Industry Leaders (BIL) Program. BIL is an after-school initiative in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club that introduces high school students to career opportunities in commercial real estate, guiding them through Request for Proposal processes for a variety of project types. There's a number of ways that you can get involved in attending and supporting this event that I've outlined below: 1) Team Registration (4 players, rotating playing doubles matches) ($250 early, $350 starting August 22) 2) Individual Ticket (open play, networking, and yard games) (registration goes live on August 21) 3) Sponsorship ($1,500 court sponsorships and $5,000 event sponsorship) (reach out for more information) We hope to see lots of familiar faces across the industry playing, networking, and cheering on their peers in about six weeks! TRYING TO GET EXTRACURRICULARS ON FOR R1 The ideal is to have ECs that don’t immediately flag “I’m trying to get into b-school by doing this.” Choose something that is a natural extension of your experience or background. If you’re already into football/soccer - how about helping underprivileged children find the means to play soccer after school? Another option is to pick something aligned with your goal as stated in the application. And, if possible, pick something that will culminate in some observable/anecdotal or quantifiable positive impact. For example, a being on the board/committee of a fundraiser that takes place before your application deadline. Would ideally provide a good story that illustrates your character, and helps them get to know you as a person, if used for an essay or interview response.

College basketball bracket fun is coming up! We hope you will join us for our MDFF bracket pool! You'll be able to create your bracket on Sunday, March 17. We will send out more information about how to join the MDFF Pool next week – we are making a switch this year and using Big Tourney instead of CBS for bracket status tracking. We have a $5,000 matching gift from anonymous donors this year! This means that all of your donations will go even further to support Hoosier families navigating the challenges of living with a form of muscular dystrophy. Is there a cost? We have a suggested donation amount of $25 per bracket, but feel free to give what you are able. For our MD families, it's free :) Will there be prizes? Yes! First place will receive $250, second place will receive $100, and third place will receive $50. What if I know nothing about basketball? No worries. You can make selections by picking winning teams based whether they have an animal mascot, because you like their team colors, etc. Or, there is NCAA's website (https://buff.ly/3Vfp5dL ) with lots of great information. Note: this year we are switching bracket platforms and utilizing Big Tourney instead of CBS - more info to come!
