In light of Mental Health Awareness Month, it is important to acknowledge that food insecurity and mental health challenges are often intertwined. Nourishing Hope has been at the forefront of providing mental health counseling and social services—in addition to free food—to help Chicagoans lead dignified lives. Earlier this month, Nourishing Hope’s Young Leaders Board hosted their annual End Hunger Social. CoreGiving was honored to sponsor the event and engage young leaders from LivCor, a Blackstone Portfolio Company, and Revantage, A Blackstone Portfolio Company, in Nourishing Hope’s important mission. May is #MentalHealthAwareness month in the US. Despite recent improvements in how our society approaches mental wellbeing, most Americans don’t have access to the high-quality, comprehensive care they need. From National Council for Mental Wellbeing: 📊 1 in 5 US adults experience mental illness each year, but only 47% of those in need received treatment in 2021 📊 1 in 6 US youth have a mental health condition, but only half receive treatment Many donors we speak with are eager to get involved—but they often don’t know where to start or feel that their resources can’t make a significant difference.
