Family Doctor @ Beth Israel Lahey Health and Family Medicine Clerkship Director UMASS-Chan Medical School
This is truly good news for everyone. Studies have shown that comprehensive primary care led by a family physician simultaneously improves the quality of patient care and reduces health care costs. Perplexing is that while the evidence piles up describing the value of family physicians we continue to have a national shortage of them. Often I hear that primary care is ripe for disruption or primary care is in crisis which if both are true then necessarily imply a great opportunity. It's simple: Invest in family medicine and primary care and improve our health care system.
The AAFP congratulates the medical students who chose family medicine. We can’t wait to celebrate and follow their journey. 🎉 Read our #Match2024 press release: https://bit.ly/3wZaedd

Whenever I'm planning a busy procedure clinic, I always come up with a plan for the Resident I work with. We rely on the phenninger and Fowler textbook, which has been my go-to resource for over 30 years for teaching and learning new procedures. As a family medicine physician, I can say with confidence that this textbook is the Bible for our field. Procedures are one of the many reasons why family medicine physicians are so much more advanced than advanced care providers. #FamilyMedicine #MedicalEducation #ProcedureClinic #FMXSCOPE
