In a Clever Security, Clever Business world, the link from incident management to crisis response (the Crisis Management Handshake) is obvious, but incident management does not exist in a vacuum. The SeMS is a framework of interdependent activities, and incident management is just one of those components. When they are all properly aligned and working well, the crisis response is smoother, faster and better. For example, the incident response team includes personnel from business units as well as the security team and possibly from other agencies. Training them to take part in managing an incident is included in the education segment of the SeMS. Andy Blackwell and John Wood’s new book describes the latest thinking in managing security. Read their insights on the interactions between incident management and crisis response. #CRJ #bookreview #incidentmanagement #securitymanagement

#Bomb Incident Management: SOP for those Who CARE : #Must Have SOP #Save Live #Every Life Matters # Every second Matters For more on the subject: Please explore the Kindle edition of the book : https://amzn.eu/d/3C8lKE5 Understanding the advantages and disadvantages to the bomber is crucial for the security manager. The knowledge helps tailor strategies for prevention, detection, and response. It also emphasizes areas that are likely to be attractive to an attacker and, thus, where defensive measures should be most robust. #prevention : Robust Screening: Given the potential anonymity bombs provide, strict screening protocols should be in place. This means efficient screening at all access points to prevent bombs from entering facilities. #intelligence and Surveillance: Continuous monitoring of the facility and immediate surroundings can deter a potential bomber, especially one considering placing a device outside the site. #public Awareness Campaigns: Raising awareness among employees and the general public can serve as an added layer of security. Educated and vigilant individuals can spot and report suspicious behavior, potentially preventing an attack. #detection : Advanced Technologies: The use of explosive detection systems, sniffing dogs, and CCTV systems with analytics can help detect bombs. Regular Drills: Conducting regular drills can train employees to spot abandoned packages or suspicious behaviour and know how to report them. #response : Rapid Evacuation Protocols: Should a bomb be detected, a swift and organized evacuation procedure needs to be in place to minimize potential damage. Bomb Squads and Disposal Units: Quick access to bomb squads and disposal units can be essential to defuse the situation. Collaboration with local law enforcement can ensure prompt response times. #business Continuity Planning: Given that even a bomb threat (without an actual bomb) can disrupt operations, a continuity plan should be in place. This will allow operations to resume as quickly as possible, minimizing economic impact. #forensic Analysis: #Evidence Preservation: If a bomb is detected and defused or goes off, preserving evidence for forensic analysis is crucial. It can provide leads to the perpetrator and help in their prosecution. You need a management system for the incident management process to function, that Cybersecurity Program should be based on ISO/IEC 27001 ISMS. Incident Management is only one procedure within a series of important procedures that make up the entire program. Incident Management cannot operate in a silo.
Cybersecurity Enthusiast | IT Risk | Cloud Security | Risk and Compliance | ISMS | ISO27001 | ISO 27005 | NIST CSF | Privacy | PCIDSS | Data Security |
The three popular frameworks for Security Incident Management Though the three follow a different nomenclature for the different stages the overall process is the same. The same process is broken into 5 stages by ISO, 4 by NIST and 6 by SANS. #SecurityIncidentResponse #iso27001

Empowering Emergency Managers with Innovative Technology 🚨 | Girl Dad x2 👨🏻 | LinkedIn Top Voice 📣 | Certified Emergency Manager 🌀 | Product @ Everbridge 💻
Incident management technology should serve the needs of both crisis managers and emergency managers. The main objective for both professions is similar: to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from an event. The only difference is for whom. At some point, collaboration between crisis and emergency managers becomes essential. Without this connection, we will continue to miss opportunities to create true situational awareness and a common operating picture. #technology #emergencymanagement #crisismanagement
