At a recent HVAC appointment and learned a bit more about refrigerant so if you have an HVAC system consuming R-22/HCFC-22 as a refrigerant, it’s important to know all production and import have ceased since 2020 and all HCFC variations will end in 2030. This will ultimately mean that if your HVAC system needs more R-22 when there’s no more left in circulation, especially if it’s towards the end of its lifespan, then a new HVAC system using more environmentally-friendly refrigerant will be need to be put in place, but that shouldn’t mean ductwork will need to be replaced, unless there are leaks.
