Silence is a powerful tool for exhibiting emotional intelligence. You are indeed the stronger one if you are able to stay calm and silent in the midst of yelling and confusion. Do not forget that the one who strikes before he asks is like a blind bat in the day. Asking means that you wanna pay a lot of quality attention to understand the situation before you react. As good as silence is, it could also mean disrespect in the African context when you remain silent when being lashed at by an elderly person… so yes, we must also know when to speak calmly and politely and it’s a lot of work.
