Ofsted: 7 key findings from its PE subject report. Most schools do not provide “clearly defined and broad” physical education (PE) lessons, Ofsted has found, with many “not matching the ambition of the national curriculum”. The finding forms part of the watchdog’s latest subject report, which delivers the strengths and weaknesses of how PE is taught in schools. Have you heard the recent news about Ofsted inspections?❗ You likely have already, but in short, the inspections have been pushed back due to Sir Martyn Oliver, the new boss at Ofsted, wanting to investigate how inspections are done after the sad death of headteacher Ruth Perry. It's obviously very important that time is taken to understand what happens to avoid something similar happening again given the pressure and stress of these inspections. In our opinion, its high time these changed - we've heard from many headteachers and those within the sector saying that as they stand, these inspections are not only unfit for purpose, but unnecessarily stressful. Let's see what Sir Martyn Oliver does at this point. Read the Schools Week article in full to find out more, we'll post it in the comments below. 👇🏻 #education #ofsted #schools #reports #headteachers #teachers #edtech #publicsupport #awareness #learning #students #teaching #knowledge #schooling #classroom #educationmatters #educationforall #educationiskey #educationfirst #educationgoals

IS OFSTED FAIR TO SMALL SCHOOLS? This topic has been with us ever since the new framework was introduced in 2019. The framework was intended to be applicable to all types of schools equally....but is it? A good evaluation system will hold people to account for what they control, not for their context, so this is an important question. #ofsted #primaryeducation My latest YouTube video brings together some of the evidence and opinion. https://lnkd.in/eSy8qQeM

We are often asked questions about how policies and legislation might look in the classroom. Those questions include: - How might 'nurturing' look like in the senior phase of secondary education? - What does 'child-centred' look when working towards national exams? - How can a teacher (or school) let their pupils know that they care about whole humans not just their academic scores? - How can a teacher emphasise the formative nature of assessment? Well, this is certainly a good example to model all of these. The text below was included at the bottom of an in-house exam paper. Well done, Nyborg Gymnasium for this small but incredibly powerful act of care.
