Today marks the anniversary of when Antonio Lanotte joined the #Vernewell advisory board, a journey that echoes the very essence of innovation: challenging yet immensely rewarding. Reflecting on our journey, I'm reminded of the unpredictable path of technological advancements, which is rarely straight and often strewn with challenges. It demands #resilience and #adaptability, qualities that Antonio has brought. His expertise in digital transformation, circular economy, and digital assets has been invaluable. One of our most notable collaborations was the policy consultancy for a #governmental # #Financialinstitution in the region/I can't reveal more. This project, while immensely satisfying, came with its own set of challenges, primarily the tight deadlines set by Antonio. It was a painful yet thrilling ride, pushing us to our limits and beyond, ensuring that we deliver nothing short of excellence. As we celebrate this milestone, I look forward to many more projects where we can drive change and innovation together. This past year was one full of celebration as we marked Belden’s 120-year anniversary. This milestone reminded me how unique Belden is, not only in our position today as a network and data solutions provider, but also in our long, rich history which is something many companies don’t have the opportunity to experience. It’s a proof point that our teams around the world have always innovated to create a sustainable future – and always will. It’s an energy I’m so proud to be part of and one that advances our success. I recently joined Belden leadership at our 121 and Beyond livestream event in which we commemorated our past and discussed our forward-looking strategies. I had the privilege of sharing updates on our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. I get excited about this work for a number of reasons. First, Belden has always operated in a sustainable and responsible way, so ESG truly is part of our DNA here. We’re talking about ESG more in recent years, setting goals and reporting on our progress. Second, as greater regulations around ESG emerge, I’m confident that we have the people and processes in place to collect and report on data. We’re ready for this because of our commitment to our work. Finally, ESG has become more than just a plan at Belden. People across the organization are already involved in supporting the achievement of our goals, and the number of employees playing an active role will continue to increase in the coming year. Although this is largely written from a corporate perspective, I resonated with the idea of not letting purpose get in the way of meaning. Language, particularly the use of labels, is a useful short-hand but imprecise in terms of expressing the totality of our human experience and for those things we find most meaningful. Labels also tend to become fixed in our mind, reducing our capacity for flexibility and change. As therapist, I am curious about finding ways for people to express things for which there are sometimes no words; indeed, whether it is even necessary to express it (is it for my benefit or theirs?). It's also important to be careful about not making clients feel inadequate because they cannot identify or verbalise their purpose. Sometimes it is unknown to the client and therefore helpful to find some words. But some things defy language, and perhaps our unique sense of purpose can be one of those things.
