🔆 Fuente Álamo towards a greener #electric future ⚡ Fuente Álamo has become an example of #sustainability through projects such as the one led by the company Comunidad Solar, which has two photovoltaic parks in Fuente Álamo. This service allows a self-consumption modality, which goes beyond the #energycommunity and allows families who live in flats and cannot install panels to benefit from #photovoltaic electricity. Even if they live hundreds of miles away from the plant where it is generated. The Viking Link is a symbol of international cooperation and sustainable innovation. Connecting the UK and Denmark over 475 miles (765 kilometers), this interconnector handles a peak load of 1,400 megawatts, allowing both countries to share surplus energy efficiently. 🌍 Last week, we submitted our proposal for the LIFE programme, titled "LIFE4LPAs." The LIFE4LPAs initiative is geared towards shaping supportive policies and regulatory frameworks at the municipal and national levels, specifically focusing on the development of comprehensive energy transition plans.🌱 The transition to sustainable energy not only contributes to environmental well-being but also stimulates economic growth, creating job opportunities in the renewable energy sector. Improved air quality and a healthier environment are just some of the many social benefits. Our project emphasizes collaboration with local governments and communities to garner support and participation. We believe in the power of a community-driven approach to make a substantial impact. 💪 The consortium, consisting of 9 partners from 🇹🇩 🇹🇷 🇪🇸 🇮🇹 🇱🇹 🇩🇪, is ready to take on this transformative journey. We are honoured to coordinate the Work Package of Communications, Dissemination, and Exploitation. "Climate Additionality" is not a static concept. Over a decade ago, Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) were often critical to a project's success. In most US markets, that is no longer the case. Where emissions reductions, cleaner energy or RECs are underpinned by actions that truly make new projects happen (such as, acquiring renewable energy tax credits), then climate additionality should be recognized by the many well-intentioned bodies that set the standards for clean energy procurement required to earn their stamp of approval. Those standards are increasingly obsolete and in need of a refresh to reflect the new options and technologies available to us. Tax credits, Battery Energy Storage Projects ("BESS") and generally, any marginal emissions reductions that would otherwise not have occurred save for a given corporate action or investment, all deserve recognition for their true impact, and not simply purchasing RECs. We believe bold moves by major US corporations that lead and shape dialogue on this key matter will be a faster and more effective catalyst for improving sustainability than trying to change obsolete definitions of additionality and green energy. Acquiring transferrable investment tax credits across a broader base of technologies is an excellent example. This has been greatly simplified by the IRA, drives true additionality and in many cases, can turn corporate sustainability into a profit center rather than a cost center. That's a true win-win for CSOs and CFOs in one step. #RE100 #NetZero #CEBA

📍 On the 9th and 10th of April, CluBE-Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia, participated in the #BridgeEU online General Assembly represented by Vasileios Balachtsis, Deputy Head of Sustainable and Intelligent Transition Department and Stavros Spyridakos, Junior Project Manager at Energy and Climate Action Department. They had the opportunity to discuss the results achieved by the RESONANCE Project, i-STENTORE and HEDGE-IoT projects within the initiative. They also familiarized with other projects that are included in #BridgeEU. . 💡 #BridgeEU is a European Commission initiative that brings together projects from Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe focused on Smart Grid, Energy Storage, Islands, and Digitalisation. It aims to provide a structured perspective on challenges encountered in these demonstration projects that could hinder innovation.  🔎 CluBE is working on these topics with more than 30 EU projects and is aligned with the initiative's goals.
