5 things I’ve learnt after more than a decade of recruiting finance & accounting: 1️⃣ If it doesn't work out, there’s always another candidate 2️⃣ Good people get multiple offers 3️⃣ The longer a process drags out, the more things can and will go wrong 4️⃣ Giving good interview feedback is important (and the right thing to do) 5️⃣ If everyone isn’t aligned from the start, you won’t get the right person Let me know any other pearls of wisdom from your own experience in the comments! #recruitment #talentacquisition #financejobs

Successfully consulting with Cambridgeshire /Suffolk companies and solving their finance staffing problems since 1992
Yesterday, a client of mine called me after interviewing two senior level finance people I'd sent him. He's seeing two more this afternoon. He has a very small department so doesn't interview often and his opening line was "It sucks chunks out of your day this interviewing thing, doesn't it?" It amused me as I think many people don't realise how time consuming recruitment is or what we actually do for our money until they start the recruitment process themselves. He had requested to see four people so that's what I gave him but I could have just given him one. A good recruiter should save you a lot of time. If you get a very good one, you should over a period of time learn to trust that they have the capability to give you one or two people that are exactly what you want and make the process really straight forward. If you are being swamped with CV's, then maybe it's time to re-evaluate your process and who you are using. If you need to recruit but are really busy and and also need to save time - talk to me. I can take that weight off your shoulders. #recruitment #hiring #finance

We know it's sometimes hard as a finance leader to manage recruitment AND do your day job at the same time. Often the very reason you need to recruit is to alleviate the workload. But there is nothing worse than losing a candidate to another business because they were put off by your interview process. Delayed feedback is candidates' biggest gripe according to our TalentEdge Work/Life survey of 500 accounting professionals, and over my 10 years in recruitment, I've seen many clients lose the perfect candidate because they took too long to come back to them. That's why our consultants are always urgently chasing feedback post-interview!! There's often a good reason why it isn't forthcoming, and as experienced consultants, we are adept at managing the delay if we know what's causing it. So even a quick email to your recruiter can be enough to enable them to keep the candidate engaged and enthusiastic about the opportunity and your brand. The same goes for job specs and the length of the interview process. Having successfully managed the recruitment of thousands of candidates for our clients, we can advise you on how best to ensure that the interview process doesn't hinder your chances of securing the best talent in a highly competitive market.
