This strategy - committing to focus only on the things within your control - is the most powerful way to accelerate results! When you're executing a project, every moment you spent dwelling on something you are not in control of, is a distraction that sucks your energy away.
We had only two months to climb the world ranking from #73 to #23 in order to qualify for the #Olympics - there were 50 other teams ahead of us, who had played the sport longer, had more funding, coaching, and we had never beaten before... what allowed us to surpass them, against all odds, is this commitment we made to focus all of our available energy ONLY on the things we could control.

*Distractions* stand between you and your goals. Identify yours and eliminate them from your life.
This strategy took beach volleyball player Lina Taylor, OLY to the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
“What was the thing that stood in the way between us even believing that it was possible to play in the Olympics?,” Taylor recalls asking herself.
The answer, she discovered upon reflection, wasn’t the 50 other teams she was competing against. It was the ranking itself.
She and her partner (her sister Petia Taylor), decided to not look at the rankings until qualifications were over. Taylor says this allowed them to only focus on what they could control.
Long story short, they made it.

Day 8 - How are recent trends & developments around diversity in sports ownership reshaping the landscape of sports?
It has been great to see the diversity in sports ownership. I think it has shaped sports by allowing a diverse group of people to own and invest in a diverse group of sports.
Some of the diverse sports:
- Lacrosse
- Pickleball
- Jai-Alai (Udonis Haslem)
The ownership in sports has really been cool to see with athletes normally in ownership of a sport they don’t play.
Excited to see where this continues to go and excited to join an ownership team one day. 😉

Here's my thoughts on the latest Netflix attempt at live sports 💭
The production was unapologetically American 🇺🇸
The bright lights of Vegas, the on screen infographics and the gladiator style walk on's made this feel more like a heavyweight boxing match! Which I don't think was a bad thing.
Vegas wants sport! 🏉 🏎️ 🥊 🎾
Super Bowl, Formula 1, Boxing, Tennis. Vegas has it all. The City has a unique ability to put on an incredible show and this was no exception. Who knows what other sports we could see here in the future. El Clásico? ⚽️
Netflix knows what the crowd wants and are willing to make it happen. 🍿
This exhibition match was a clear statement from Netflix. There's only so many times we could see these two superstars face each other. Rather than wait for the luck of the draw in a tournament, Netflix made it happen on their terms.
The streaming giant has the will, ability and the funds to make these kinds of matches happen.
Traditionalists may not love it.
But for people who want to see the biggest names in sport go head-to-head more regularly this can only be a good thing!
I'm keen to know peoples thoughts on this.
Is the future of sports more of these 'exhibition' style events or shall we stick to what we know?
