I teach nonprofit teams to write better fundraising comms 💰 | Ex Fundraising Manager turned Copywriter ✨ | Co-Founder of Kind Word ❤️
Here's an idea for emotive opening lines 💝 Write a question to make someone stop... and feel. • "Have you ever—?" • "What would you do if—?" • "Can you imagine having to—?" Because when someone thinks about how they'd answer a question like this... You've immediately helped put them in another person's shoes 💖 TIP: Ask this type of question to move your reader's heart. P.S. It's especially powerful for direct response storytelling, like fundraising appeal letters and emails. P.P.S. My next post will be about my Fundraising Writing Workshops, where I provide in-depth training and more tips like these. ------------------ I'm Maddie, Co-Founder of Kind Word. Here to help nonprofits (and businesses) bring in more funds through kind words ❤️ #WritingTips

I just completed the longest task ever in my business… Any guesses what it is? ***ALL THE MONEY*** if you guessed web site refresh! …and my web site refresh had the added challenge of dawning with a giant “OOPS!” in early 2020 at the onset of the Great Disruption. It finally made its way back into my calendar this year, with the help of two very special professionals. Any solo-preneur can attest to the blood, sweat and tears that accompanies a site refresh, however the bleeding and crying was greatly minimized this time around by working with: --> Crystal Edwards (Oicle) who delivered super-functional, and also delightful, web site design and execution --> Kim Kiel 👩🏻💻✍🏻🎙 and her unique “Joy of Copy Club” which provided a great learning space for me to workshop my web copy with Kim’s expert assistance The new site shares some of my “hot take” on pragmatic strategy and demystified governance for impact-driven non-profits/NFPs, including associations, government- and endowment-funded organizations, and smaller, more agile municipalities and M.D.s. This has been a colossal effort, and I still need your help – if you’re someone who loves proofreading and finding errors, I’d deeply appreciate the identification of any bugs or issues you find. <new site link in comments> The new Strix site will be a home for practical, ready-to-apply tools for non-profits to improve their impact through wise strategy, planning and demystified governance. Let’s connect on LI and/or send me a contact form request on the site if you want to always receive notification of when new library resources are uploaded. And of course, I would appreciate any shares to anyone in your network who has a common interest in supporting non-profit Boards/Councils to improve their strategy and governance. #StrixInsights #ImpactDrivenNFP #GoodGovernance #PragmaticStrategy

The person with the best input will receive our free 30-min consultation. As always, no bullshit theorizing, come and join us for some real founder fundraising talk. 📆 Date: April 21th 2025 ⏰ Time: 10 am PST / 7 pm CET 🔗 Link to register (and submit fuckups/questions): in the comments otherwise LinkedIn will not show this post to a bunch of ppl Would love it if you joined, it should be 🔥 Can’t make it?
