From the perspective of your small church perch, you might have asked what can we do to help the community? The one thing a faltering church typically has is space. Leverage empty classrooms, parking lots, education buildings, or offices to help the community by sharing the space. #ChurchRevitalization

TRUSTEES FOR CIVIC INFRASTRUCTURE Our commitment to enhancing civic infrastructure by encouraging, educating, and inspiring individuals of all ages throughout the county would not be possible without the continued support of our trustees. LEADERship has a small group of Trustees for Civic Infrastructure who provide an annual investment critical to the ongoing success of our program. Each investment goes directly to participant programming and results in people taking on leadership roles in the community. LEADERship, in turn, banners the names of the Trustee organizations on LEADERship publications and materials. As is almost always the case with education, tuition for the class year does not cover the cost of the program. The support from the Trustees for Civic Infrastructure allows LEADERship to keep tuition at an affordable price to maintain the diversity we seek. That also allows us to maintain the growing network of leaders who are working individually and collectively to strengthen our communities. LEADERship Ashtabula County salutes our Trustees for Civic Infrastructure, who have invested in the development of people ready to make things happen. #Trustees #LEADERshipAshtabulaCounty #CommunitySupport #CommunityPartnership

In many states, the state of education for our Black and Brown children remains a pressing problem, and let's be clear 👉🏾 it's NOT the fault of the children. I've walked into countless classrooms and what I've witnessed is not what the media often portrays. I haven't seen rampant misbehavior or chaos. Instead, I see children behaving just like any other kids their age - curious, eager to learn, and full of potential. So what's really holding them back? Here's what I've seen: 1️⃣ A pervasive lack of belief in the worth and capabilities of Black and Brown children. 2️⃣ Unsupportive and disorganized leadership within our educational institutions. And who bears the brunt of this failure? The children. They're unfairly blamed for circumstances beyond their control. We owe it to our children to do better. It's time to shift the narrative and hold the true culprits accountable – dismantle the barriers, challenge the status quo, and create a system that truly values and empowers every child, regardless of their background. 👉🏾 If you are struggling to create this type of change in your school, DM me and let’s see how I can help. #schoolleaders #edleadership #whenbrowngirlslead

We all need community to not just survive, but to thrive in life 💭 In my keynote address from my Black Student Connect Event, I spoke to the necessary of building community As the famous African proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child” In the same way, we all need a village (genuine community/ support system) to grow and mature into who we were meant to be Students need a village Educators need a village Managers need a village Directors need a village We all need a village Because no man is an island 🏝️ 🔑 It’s in the village where we don’t just find support and encouragement, but find accountability CALL TO ACTION 💥 1️⃣ Tag the people who are apart of your village below and let them know how much you are grateful for them 2️⃣ Make a list of ways you can intentionally go about building community with those around you #ThriveThroughIt 🚀 #recruiter #students #success #studentaffairs #collegesanduniversities #highereducation #motivation #inspiration #leadership #keynotespeaker #motivationalspeaker #blackexcellence

Designing transformative leadership journeys for changemakers globally | Peace Educator | International Facilitator | Founder@The Peace Collective
First week of being a teacher. Two boys (7 years old). One took the other’s pencil without asking. The owner of the pencil gave him a whack on his head. No questions asked, no statements such as , “hey, that’s mine”; just a straight whack on the head (for taking his pencil). Elise Boulding made an acute observation: “The culture of peace is something which is learned, just as violence is learned and war culture is learned.” Over the next 2 years, we consciously built a culture of respect, care and safety in our classroom. Slowly, we became a class where we chose not to use violence as our first response. The Peace Collective is excited to share a course co-created with the amazing Purvi Vora called ‘Building Peaceful Schools- A Leadership Journey Towards Positive Change’. A batch with 60 school leaders starts in October this year. But before we do that, we wanted to open this 6 week course (Aug-Sept) for a selected small group of school leaders and education focused nonprofits who are committed to use education for creating a peaceful society. This course is for you if you- ✨ care about building a more inclusive, harmonious and safe culture in your school ✨ are committed to securing students’ social-emotional and physical safety ✨ want to use the tenets of peace education to critically reflect on your school systems and culture ✨ are in a position to affect change in your institution Share your interest here- https://lnkd.in/giVjTwx3 Last Date 21st July, 2024 Do spread the word. #peaceeducation #leadershipforpeace #cultureofpeace

As a school leader, do you say words like "stakeholder," "equity," or "cabinet"? If so, it's time to consider communication differently. Organic communication is essential for public schools. It helps to build trust and engagement with students, families, and the community. It also helps to promote equity and inclusion. #schoolmarketing #k12 #education #schoolleadership #schoolcomms #schoolpr #schoolculture #schoolcommunity #schoolspirit #schoolsuccess #k12schools

Leadership matters. Leaders from the community, union, school sites, student groups, along with the Board & Superintendent have to shape the culture - in collaboration. Leadership is a privilege, service is the goal, but the burden is very heavy. Important perspectives in this article
