Thoughts on how to win from a weaker region. Recently our R6S team from Korea after many many many years of trying was able to qualify for the Manchester Major as champions of Korea . This is a huge milestone for us as R6S has been a game we have struggled to find competitive success. Talon's mission statement however being "Represent the best of Asia Pacific." means we are always try and find ways to bring the level up of our region to challenge the best in the world even if its historically from a weaker region. In each and every esports you see competitive performance across different regions develop a very different speeds. A lot of this is down many different factors but a simplification might be due to the popularity of the game which directly leads to how big the community is which in turn leads to the competitive community. While we are generally face a smaller player pool for R6S in APAC this does not mean we cant find success here are some of the areas we feel have helped us level up. 1. Knowledge and Game Understanding - Our R6S team previously had leveraged local coaches to develop and select players. While we had mixed success we saw the development of EU region has far outpaced that of the APAC region and thus decided to bring in some of worlds best coaches and analysts (shoutout Dohoon Kim for making it happen). Thus we decided to bring in Fabien and Pengu (Multiple time world champions in R6S) as means to level up the knowledge and game understanding. The short term results speak for themselves but longer term we aim to soak up as much knowledge and also build networks to ensure we can provide the best infrastructure from scouting and development of R6S players for our region. 2. Training - We have a saying at Talon 'Iron Sharpens Iron' If you want to become the best you need to train with the best. In esports scrims are an important part of practice and execution for game day. If the quality of the scrim partners around you is not at the highest level domestically when you go to international level you will always be left wanting. Recently we have been in the process of developing performance centers in regions outside of APAC so as players can bootcamp to develop and improve outside of our region. Why you ask? Well if the quality of training is not good enough in APAC then we need to be spending periods of time training with our EU, US, MENA or LATAM counterparts to learn and develop. Scrimming and training with the best will help level up your standards. 3. Inspire for the next generation of gamers - Often when teams from weaker regions do well at international tournaments it can inspire the next generation of future talent for that game. At Talon we feel its important to set lofty goals to work towards in order to set an example of our region to inspire the next generation that we can beat the best in the world. Amazing Q1 start to '24 and a lot more to come hopefully :) Also Shoutout to the PSG buff as well :)
LFG! Last night was a historic moment for TALON as we clinched our first league championship in Rainbow 6 Siege winning the South Korea League and securing our spot at the Manchester Major. This win is also especially meaningful as this season in partnership with Paris Saint-Germain Esports and our first season with R6 Legends Fabian and Pengu at the helm. Thank you so much to our incredible supporters. See yas all in Manchester! #esports #r6s #SOARWITHTALON
