What is holistic wellness to you? I recently had a conversation with a colleague about this. The word “holistic" tends to get thrown around a lot, but it's never truly defined. To me, Wel at Humana is the true definition of "holistic wellness." We've adopted Exos' approach and encourage individuals to think of well-being in four main pillars. It's fine-tuning not only your physical health through movement, but it's dialing in on nutrition, channeling a growth mindset, and always prioritizing recovery. For peak performance – whether you're a professional athlete, corporate executive, or stay-at-home parent – you must maintain balance in all four areas. Striving for that balance is when we reach holistic wellness.

I LOVE daily stand-ups! I get to tell everyone, in excruciating detail, every little thing I did for the last 24h, and everything I *think* I'm going to do in the next. Look at me go! 🤮 Okay I'm being sarcastic, but I don't think it's that far off in reality. "15 minute" daily stand-ups tend to become hour long Zoom snooze-fests. Classic bike shedding. It's hard to tell what's important, or we worry about looking like we're not doing enough, so it's a vomit stream of everything little thing we've done since yesterday. Or in the case of yours truly, you forget it's time for standup, show up not quite remembering, and just start listing things out of your head until you realize 5 minutes have gone by and you're still talking. This is one of the reasons we built KATA Teams. So you can stop wasting time on the trivial, and focus the discussion on what's important. The things getting in your way, not yesterday. (See what I did there?) And don't worry people can see the work you've done, it's all there! Start focusing on the blockers and decisions to be made, not enumerating the past. Spring Cleaning. It's all about presentation isn't it? First cut of the greens. Some elbow grease to shine up the carts. Cleaning the dust off those drinkware pieces that've been in the rack upside down all winter. You gotta look good. Sure, it's about our professional pride and operational duty, but it's mostly about building out our side of the consumer equation. We are getting ready for people who are paying us to be there. What they expect from us for their $110 bucks. A healthy course in great shape being run smoothly with a positive operational mindset. CHECK ✔ An enjoyable trip to the range and use of the clubhouse. CHECK ✔ And us too. I'll be piping in here regularly to remind everyone that we are on the exact same path as yourselves. Making certain we are ready to do our part when we get on site at your course. To fulfil our end of the bargain with the golfers who've chosen your course to host their tournament. You keep checking off your marks for your golfers and we'll do the same. We each owe them what they expect - our best. You're the experts in all those items and much more. We're the experts in bringing a story to life for a tournament at your facility. Signage is it's own ballgame. It's just not possible for you to add that expertise to your oversized to-do list. Keep those A-Frames available and help where possible, but for those tournament customers who need to take care of their brand, and the brands of their events sponsors, to the same high level they do all year round - that's where we step in. Does this look familiar? This is our car, filled to the brim with every possible thing we might possibly need for a week at the beach. ✅ Suitcases ✅ Multiple beach umbrellas ✅ Beach toys ✅ Beach chairs And then… 🤔 Bikes? Sure, kids want to ride.  🤔 Soccer ball? Sure, kids might get bored.  🤔 Oversized nerf tennis game? Yeah, we’ve got a little bit of room right here for that stuff. And next thing you know this is what you’ve got. There’s room, so you squeeze one more thing in. This is life. What is it about empty space that makes us feel like we need to fill it up? We’re constantly filling our lives with more We fill the rooms in our homes (and then storage units) We fill our commutes with podcasts to learn We fill our calendars to be "productive" We fill pauses in conversation because silence is uncomfortable What if we just got comfortable with…. the white space Space to pause Space to think Space to appreciate Space to breathe Space to be Where can you create more white space in your life this week? PS - Dads, how about that packing job? PPS - Yes, the clubs are in there somewhere 👊

She inspires me#3: So Katie's first indoor track season has ended, she met and fulfilled her 2 mile running goal. It reminds me of work when in marketing we ask: "what's our goal, what are we trying to do and what's the strategy to get there". I think it important to put strategy first, then list your goals, to ultimately get your big idea out there in the world. >Katie’s idea: Run indoor track so that I can ultimately excel at outdoor track. >Katie’s strategy: keep the body well-tuned during winter so your ready for an outstanding spring. >Katie’s goals to keep that strategy in motion in order to make the idea happen. Goal 1: in dual meets take 10 secs off in each race Goal 2: get a PR in a big invitational meet Goal 3: score points and have a SB in the league meet Goal 4: At the end of indoor season get that desired time she had in mind. CHECK ON ALL 4! Take a moment to read the attached "Her Story" essay, as it's a great reminder of how a team can provide the support and encouragement needed to help you attain your goals and give you the confidence to succeed.
