🛫 Now boarding: Major upgrade work is ramping up for Toronto Pearson Airport. Here's what you need to know: ✅ The Greater Toronto Airports Authority has begun the first phase of procurement for its LIFT program which will see billions of dollars spent on airport upgrades over the next decade and beyond. ✅ The first phase of a procurement process included an industry forum for 700 participants from design, construction, and technology industry companies. ✅ The initial program of LIFT will focus on modernizing airport assets, including high speed taxi lanes to improve airfield performance, modernized airfield electric lighting and control system, interim terminal facilities, and investments in power generation to advance towards net-zero targets. #WorksiteNews 🚇 Our Colas Rail France teams are building the track for the St Maur - Créteil station, the last to be built on the #line15 South East. 🏗 The deepest station in France, its platforms are 52m deep, compared with an average of 29m for the other stations on the #GrandParisExpress. 🕳 The site is logistically complex, with the only supply well located 2.9km from the station. This was a special operation and a first for Renaud Maillard & Amandine SADOR's teams, who had 2 months to lay and pour the low carbon concrete for the 2 tracks, each 220m long, simultaneously, in order to ensure traffic in rail mode in the tunnel. 📅 The concrete was transported by Multi Services Vehicles from the well in the works area, and then poured into a stationary pump so that the track could be concreted using a pipe that sends the concrete to the works area. St Maur - Créteil station will have a direct interconnection with the RER A, enabling more than 45,000 passengers to use the station every day. 🚆 Grand Paris Express #ColasRail #Mobility #Metro

Come in, air traffic control! Terrific investment from Bristol Airport as they are set to pump £3.5 million into the maintenance of their air traffic control tower. This is looking to be a worthy injection of funds into the maintenance of their internal infrastructure and a comprehensive six-month refurbishment of the large-towered structure. It will not only upgrade many features of the building into the future but, will incorporate a host of environmentally friendly elements such as energy-efficient lighting, heating and cooling systems reducing the building’s carbon footprint - eco-conscious investments are on the rise! Cannot wait to see the result of this project and all else associated with Bristol Airport’s overall multi-million-pound transformational development plan enabling 12 million passengers a year to use the airport in the near future. #airportinnovation #airtrafficcontrol #sustainablebusiness

Yesterday was a great day at the UK Airport Infrastructure Forum, featuring insightful presentations from our speakers and engaging conversations with our attendees. Key themes include: Unlocking greater capacity – Airports revealed their expansion plans as passenger demand exceeds pre-pandemic numbers. Luton Rising is expecting a decision on their planning application to extend their terminal infrastructure on 4 October, while Leeds Bradford Airport aims to carry out a £100m development plan with phase 1 delivered in May 2025 and Phase 2 in Mid-2026. Reducing carbon emissions during development – London Gatwick shared how they are improving sustainability while bringing the existing Northern Runway into routine use. Mark Edwards, Head of Sustainability, outlined the steps included in their £250m decarbonisation programme, he is confident that Gatwick Airport will achieve Net Zero for GHG emissions by 2030. Leveraging current infrastructure – Ensuring future growth through maximising the potential of existing runways remains a major challenge for airports with space constraints. Heathrow Airport provided key insight on the work they are doing to transition from a ‘David Star’ layout to a ‘Toast Rack’ configuration which will allow them to increase capacity. Dominican Republic US$30 million injected to modernize Las Americas in the short term; another US$250 million in second phase During a press conference called on 15 July 2024, Aerodom/Vinci Airports’ director in chief, Monika Infante announced significant improvements ongoing at the Las Americas International Airport (SDQ-AILA). The airport is undergoing renovations calling for investment of over US$30 million in the short term. In addition to these immediate improvements to the existing terminal, work is underway on the design of a new AILA passenger terminal to accommodate the double-digit passenger traffic growth that the Dominican Republic is experiencing. Construction of the new terminal is scheduled to start in 2025 with an investment of US$250 million. The terminal will have capacity to serve four million passengers per year. The current renovations are happening in the Departures and Arrivals area of the main terminal, the renovation of roofs, facades, lighting, information and air-conditioning systems, and the expansion and remodeling of the vehicle parking lot. Monika Infante, head of Aerodom/Vinci Airports at Las Americas said that all construction and remodeling work at AILA is expected to be completed by December 2024, with the exception of the baggage handling system, which will be completed in June 2025.
