๐ How are Satellites used in LandSeaLot?ย LandSeaLot utilises high spatial resolution data from land-focused satellites and high temporal resolution data from ocean-focused satellites, providing critical information used to monitor and analyse the dynamic interactions between land and sea. ๐บ In Portugal, at the LandSeaLot Integration Lab in the Tagus and Sado estuaries System (TSS), LandSeaLot will integrate satellite observations with data from numerical models and low-cost sensors, aimed to improve resolution and accuracy. ๐ฐ Satellites are a crucial component of the LandSeaLot Common Observation Strategy because they provide valuable information on spatial and temporal patterns to complement in situ observations and capture the large-scale natural variability of:ย โ Water quality โ Coastal erosion โ Sea level rise โ Turbidity โ Chlorophyll โ Land use patterns By integrating different data sources and closing observation gaps between models, in situ and satellite observation, LandSeaLot will enhance modelling and forecasting capacity of the land-sea interface!
