Several Cofolx attended the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs APBI Briefing at George Mason University this past week, gaining insight into the agency’s acquisition and IT transformation initiatives and objectives. We also enjoyed connecting with VA stakeholders and industry peers—including Eric Gonzales and Melinda Pitchford, pictured with us below—by sponsoring the GOVTECH CONNECTS post-briefing VA Official Summer Kick-Off Networking Social. The afternoon offered a unique opportunity to interact with VA leaders and drive discussions centered around addressing Veteran needs. Proceeds from the event helped raise funds for The Headstrong Project, a nonprofit organization that provides stigma-free mental health treatment for our military community. #VeteranServices #DigitalTransformation #CivicTech #VeteranEmployer

Something I’ve learned about myself recently is that it takes a lot of guts to lay the groundwork for what could be a game-changing nonprofit for military families. I’ve found the courage to leap into this entrepreneurial journey, and I’m excited to share it with you. After navigating numerous challenges, I felt a strong desire to help others facing similar struggles. That's how The OCONUS Project was born. Our mission is to empower and support military families living overseas by providing vital resources, fostering community connections, and advocating for their unique needs. To kickstart this initiative, I need to hear from YOU—military spouses and service members who have lived or are currently living overseas. With the help of some fantastic supporters, we’ve crafted a survey to gather essential data that will enhance our mission and strengthen our advocacy efforts. 💥 Take the survey here: https://lnkd.in/gRxG29UB Special shoutout to Beth Conlin, MBA, my newest advisor/mentor! I can't wait to see how we can work together to make the project the best it can be. Also dropping a shoutout to Surinder Goode for the continued support. If this resonates with you and you want to be part of the founding phase, please reach out! We’re looking for individuals with nonprofit or OCONUS experience who are passionate about making a difference. DM me directly—I’d love to connect and collaborate. Let’s make a change together! #MilitarySpouse #OCONUSLiving #Nonprofit #CommunitySupport #Empowerment

As we honor their sacrifices, let’s also recognize the struggles they endure after their military service. Did you know? - The suicide rate among veterans is 1.5 times higher than that of non-veterans, especially among young veterans aged 18-35. - Transitioning from the structured military environment to civilian life can be daunting, leading to unique challenges. How can you make a difference? - Donate: Your contribution can provide critical mental health and wellness care to veterans and service members. - Spread Awareness: Share this post to raise awareness about the importance of supporting our military community. - Advocate: Encourage others to join the cause and help prevent veteran suicides. Remember, $30 can provide one hour of free, trauma-informed mental health care. This is a statistic that hits close to home, considering our heart and connection to the military community, and it's one we're hoping to lessen through the course of our programs. But we know that it's not a single organization - or single person's - matter to solve. 💛 We also know that a single person and organization's efforts can make a difference to #TalkAwayTheDark, no matter if they're part of the military community or not. Here's a few ways we can do that: 💛 If you suspect someone you know or love is considering suicide, educate yourself on what that might look like. Then, there are steps you can take to talk about it: https://lnkd.in/gdrycPZh 💛 Find a cause, such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or The Veterans' Crisis Line, that speaks to you. Consider making a donation to help fund suicide research and awareness, or simply use their resources to get educated: https://lnkd.in/d_PNaU2 💛 Help us continue to bring light to those serving at home, including our military and their families, by visiting us online at www.hkfva.org.
