Snr Traffic Engineer | Accredited Snr Road Safety Auditor, Roadworks Traffic Manager, Crash Investigator | Trainer & Assessor
Federal Government Takes Bold Step Towards Road Safety In a groundbreaking move, the Federal Government announces a paradigm shift in its approach to road safety, effective immediately. In a bid to combat the alarming rise in road crashes, the government has resolved to cease heeding the cacophony of amateur advice and instead prioritise the recommendations of road safety professionals. For too long, misguided opinions and ill-informed conjecture have cluttered the discourse surrounding road safety, leading to detrimental consequences on our nation's highways and byways. In a concerted effort to rectify this, the government has pledged to heed the guidance of experts who possess the requisite knowledge and experience to implement effective measures. "This April Fool's Day, we are flipping the script on road safety," declared the Minister. "No longer will we focus on measures that win us votes such as speed limits higher than the safe operation of the road and importation of cars with poor crash ratings. Instead, we will take action and listen to those who have dedicated their careers to understanding and improving road safety." This transformative decision aligns seamlessly with the government's overarching road safety strategy, which prioritises evidence-based interventions aimed at reducing deaths and serious injuries on our roads through the provision of safe vehicles, safe speeds, safe roads, safe people and improved post crash care. Under the new directive, initiatives such as enhanced driver training programs, infrastructure improvements to provide safer roads and intersections, banning the importation of vehicles with poor safety ratings and setting speed limits consistent with the safe operating speed of the road will take centre stage in the government's efforts to enhance road safety. By leveraging the insights of experts, the government is confident in its ability to effect tangible and lasting change on our nation's roads. As the nation observes April Fool's Day, let us not be fooled by antiquated notions of road safety. Instead, let us embrace this transformative shift towards a safer, more secure future for all road users. For media inquiries, please contact: April Jester
