Supporting our managers at Association of International Certified Professional Accountants has been a key ongoing activity for me over the past 2 years in role. I was lucky to have a great foundation to continue to build on as we recognise the importance our managers are to business success. So, what have we been doing to ensure they have everything they need to be successful? Here’s what we’ve done so far: 🧠Socialised the idea that people management is hard and can put a strain on cognitive load ✨Provided an internal portal to find useful resources 📧Monthly communication targeted to our people manager population 📣Monthly sessions sharing and discussing hot topics important to people management 🌟Reviewed and refreshed our Management Charter against Chartered Management Institute professional standards 🤫Offer 1 to 1 confidential conversations for people managers to talk through challenges 👨🏫developed micro learns for new and experienced managers to access learning on specific topics at their point of need We’re not stopping here. I was previously a member of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), a 'Chartered Manager', and #fellow of the CMI. In partnership with YouGov, the CMI explored the impact that good #management can make – to individuals, their organisations and to wider society. The CMI’s recently published Better Management Report: Taking responsibility - why UK plc needs better managers uses a wealth of original data from more than 4,500 people working across every corner of the UK economy and lays out the importance of good management and, perhaps more importantly, the cost of getting it wrong. The report finds that one in three UK employees have left a job because of a bad manager and 82% are promoted into management without any training - they are ‘accidental managers’. Nowhere is getting management skills right more important than in the UK's public services which face unprecedented pressure to deliver productivity improvements. Management demand down 1% The demand in management talent was very strong in NSW which pretty much buoyed the entire market and minimised the decreases experience by other states. Given that management is a major driver of productivity growth, it is heartening to see that the private sector demand for management professionals is quite strong across the nation. #recruitment #management #humanresources

I read in #theguardian today from their editor about a recent ONS study: "A recent study from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows a marked improvement in the average quality of UK management. The study, published in May, found that the average quality of management improved from 0.49 to 0.55 between 2020 and 2023. Firms have become better at managing staff performance and promotion and, in particular, more effective in dealing with underperformance."
