One of my favourite sayings is; “Good Building Surveyors understand buildings, Great Building Surveyors understand people too”…… I’ve always found the commercial aspect and application of the services we provide much more enjoyable than the technical detail (although accepting that a sound technical understanding must form the basis upon which our advice is formed) I wonder, as a profession, are we lacking these wider skills and are too focussed on technical stuff? #buildingsurveying #construction #recruitment

As the demand for construction and engineering projects continues to rise, qualified skilled trades workers are becoming fewer and farther between. According to a 2024 study conducted by Associated Builders and Contractors, the industry needs an additional 501,000 workers to meet market demand. Another survey conducted by Associated General Contractors noted that 85% of construction firms report they have open positions they are actively trying to fill.
