Kildare LECP Consultation Survey 2023 The Kildare Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP) is currently being developed. This is a statutory plan led by Kildare County Council. It aims to capture the Economic and Community Development priorities for Co. Kildare over the next six years. This will help all agencies working in Kildare to agree on the overall priorities, as well as how to both secure and direct resources. https://lnkd.in/e_xCc-Au The work already done on the LECP includes the development of a vision and four associated high level goals. These are at the draft stage. This survey is intended to find out what you think of the vision and of those high level goals.

#RetownRevision is proud to spotlight a transformative project in the U.S. Virgin Islands—the revitalization of the Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion. This important initiative is a prime example of resilience and community rebuilding in the face of adversity, particularly after the significant damage inflicted by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. Located in Frederiksted, St. Croix, the Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion is a 248-unit affordable housing development that has undergone a comprehensive $117 million rehabilitation. This project is led by the Virgin Islands Housing Authority in partnership with MDG Design Construction, a firm bringing its expertise from the continental U.S. to the islands. This collaboration reflects a commitment to not only restore but significantly improve the living conditions for residents. The rehabilitation of Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion focuses on modernizing the development and enhancing its resilience against future storms. It includes significant upgrades to ensure the safety and comfort of its residents, including hurricane-resistant windows and doors, and roof improvements to withstand storms – all aligning with broader efforts to preserve affordability and improve housing quality in the region. Funding for this project comes from multiple sources, emphasizing the collaborative approach to addressing housing needs in disaster-impacted areas. It includes contributions from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Rental Assistance Demonstration program, the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation Grant Programs, and the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery program. The revitalization of the Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion is not just a construction project; it is a beacon of hope and a critical step towards sustainable community development in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It underscores the importance of investing in robust infrastructure and community-centric planning to foster a resilient future. Please do not call or text me today, no work will be done. LoL!! I started yesterday with our EDAP to clarify expectations of the program. I remain so very excited about their potential. They’ve already created or preserved a significant number of units (we’ll come back to that). Then, to the office for a bit, before going to a community meeting hosted by Carla Williams-Scott and her team at the Department of Neighborhoods to discuss the Eastland Community Plan. First, congrats to Carla for a well-attended informative program. I learned a lot!! This area is ripe for development. 6.2 square miles. 20,000 residents. Yet only 144 units constructed, since 2010 I believe. 144!!! (I said I would go back to the number of units created or preserved by our EDAP cohorts - combined, they’ve done that many units which means we can create units with intentional efforts.) interestingly, home values are the city’s lowest but they also increased the fastest. Rent increases also outpaced the city average. Hamilton Road has been totally redone, and Refugee is in the works. With the amount invested in infrastructure, I believe we’ll see more attention to other needs, like transportation, safety, workforce development and community beautification. As always, AHT stands ready to help developers looking to do multi family or for-sale homes in the area. What do we want to see? Diverse housing options for all residents/generations and across income levels. What is the Eastland area? Well, here it is. Congrats again to Carla and her team.
