As I reflect on the past 16 years, it's impossible to ignore the highs, lows, and everything in between that have shaped our path. 🚀 From Bootstrapping to Private Equity: The journey began with dreams, determination, and a bootstrap mentality. The early days were filled with grit, long hours, and a relentless pursuit of our vision. The transition to private equity investment marked a pivotal moment, enabling us to scale but was not without challenge, itself becoming a full time role. 💡 Innovation and Feature Development: Embracing innovation has been at the core of our identity. We've continuously evolved our services, introducing cutting-edge features to enhance the user experience and stay ahead in a dynamic industry. For Women’s History Month, we’re recognizing the successes and achievements of BARDA employees. Meet Connie Song, Lead Contract Specialist, Division of Contract Management and Acquisitions. One of Connie’s greatest career achievements to date is having the opportunity to support the BARDA mission and working with such a talented and dedicated group. She added, “specifically providing contracting support to the Division of Research, Innovation and Ventures (DRIVe) in launching new and novel program initiatives.” Connie’s advice to young women who are just starting their professional careers is: “stay true to yourself and pursue your passions. Those incremental steps (some of which will feel like steps backwards) toward achieving every goal you set out to tackle is part of the experience that makes those more challenging moments worthwhile — there’s no failure in learning.” Women strengthen public health and national security with their dedication to meaningful work. Was it the right decision? A question I've gotten many times. And even after one year (today!) at Finance in Motion, I still refer to it as my "new job." Can a job still be new after a year? Maybe it's because I learn something new every single day. After 9 years in my previous role, I craved a fresh challenge, and FiM delivered. I'm reminded daily that many things can be true at the same time. Here's what I've learnt so far: ♥ You can thrive on development while sometimes longing for the familiarity of a past role where you rocked. ♥ You might think team leadership isn't for you until you manage a small but kick-ass team and feel genuinely appreciated. ♥ Being a people person doesn’t always make it easier to handle new stakeholders and dynamics. ♥ Some things worked well, others not. Lesson: do more of the things that worked well. For myself as well.  ♥ You truly realize your desire to grow when you have a boss who motivates and pushes you forward every day. So yes, it was the right decision. And I'm ready to take on year 2, let's do this!
